Ben's on about removing the pump/lines from the PAS rack / blocking the holes etc and not changing it to a non-PAS rack. Your on about putting a non-PAS rack on... which is obviously going to be better than a PAS rack with no PAS but thats not what hes saying hes going todo. Try driving a PAS...
It would!!! Bob is on about having a PAS fluid system, taking away all the hydraulics (pump, lines etc) and seeing how you get on, it wouldn't be driveable really you'd be wrestling the steering everywhere - only for emergencys. The safety factor is just the physical link thats all (rack and...
I've heard that aswell Ian IIRC they're actually slower than some non turbo bikes because its virtually impossible to keep the front wheel on the floor.
Can't fault my Conti Contact Sports 1's grips like anything just wears out too quick I've gone threw a front set in under 10k easy before now using about a quater of the tyre...
Yeah, cam cover gasket, rocker cover gasket, tappet cover gasket all the same thing!! Thats the bad thing about the motor trade everythings got 7 names.
Have a look for the obvious things mate, stone in the radiator, leaky header tank cap, perished hose pipe.
If you can't see anything its worth getting it pressure tested at a local garage to find a leak. Could be something out of sight like water pump, have a look up from below your wheel arch...
You've got to take your Turbo off... :o Ahem.
Get your air box and or air filter out the way...
and thats what it looks like, 10mm socket or spanner to get it off, just unclip the block plug. If you've got a new one from Renault your replacing it with you'll need a blow torch, some wire...
Sound advice!! Keep the 182 and get either a Mk1 1.9 D banger, or a 306 DTurbo as a runabout. Don't bother cleaning it or taking care of it, just oil and filter change it every now and then, if you scratch, bump, kerb it who cares its just a runabout.
Both will eat however many motorway miles...
Tested the battery before you changed the alternator?
Should be well above 11V.s Check you've tensioned the belt properly, not too slack, and check the live wire on the alternator, nice and tight, and clean.
How old is the car mate as Renault now do a 4 year, unlimited mileage on rear shoes/drums due to the amount of problems they've had with them.
If your confident enough get it jacked up and the drums off and have a look, shoe might have come off the backing.
2 Bolts underneath - at the front also holds the front of the undertray on
2 Bolts holding it to the arches - 1 either side
2 Clips under the bonnet - holding the plastic grill near your bonnet latch to the slam panel
As Mark said they inspect both the latch and the lock, the bit on the bonnet and the bit on the slam panel. They'll replace (should) it under warranty if its rusted badly, let them know anyway.
If they don't replace it/your not happy if they don't, give RUK a call.
Its the breather / drain for the battery nowt to worry about, looks snapped off, have you had a battery replaced or removed? Is there one end plugged into the side of your battery?
They aren't essential some people take them off completely they just get in the way. When they've swapped your...
Revving a car up till it blews off a coolant hose is? Not stirring but its only a laugh, it wasn't meant to be professional, its meant to be a naked bloke.
Not on the car its self, or on the dash or anything, sorry I meant the air conditioning machine has gauges etc on it, the air con machine connects to 2 pipes under your bonnet.
Basically the air con machine can pressurise the system, and then just keep your eye on the gauges, if the pressure drops enough you've got a leak. Decent air con machine goes 'beep... beep' - leak detected on the screen.
Shouldn't pay more than £50 for a degas regas.
Batman convert your car to a Morris 1000 stlye wiring loom.
Battery > Key barrel > Starter > Alternater > Earth
On a serious note stuff like rear wiper motor & arm? Bar in the boot for the isofix kids seats? rear seats? centre console, carpets etc
Cruise control keeps you at the speed you want.
Speed limiter you drive around normally, but it won't let you go over the speed you set. Unless you go to overtake a tractor, of course.
