How does this look for a first car?

Great little car, good shine to the paint. The wheels are quite nice, I like the herring bone brick drive aswell.

Insurance, any1 had dealing whith these comps?

Time to get covered again. I've had quotes from 'More Than' 'Swiftcover' 'M&S' and 'esure' which are all reasonable and all within about 20 quid of each other. I'm trying to decide who to go with, has anyone dealt with any of them in the past, have you had good or bad experiences...

    v6 in a mk1

Any specific reason you want a V6? I would be inclined to turbocharge your car instead, unless the engine is knackerd. If you do go for a V6 it would be more of a pain but well worth making it mid engined. You need'nt stick to Renault though, there are tons of v6 engines which would be...

    window probs HELP!

Wasnt impressed when this happend to me. The window motors on renaults sound like electric tin openers, the ones in my old scirocco were powerful and closed with a solid thunk.

    window probs HELP!

It's your window regulator that comes as one unit with the motor. Same happened to me, cant remeber how much it cost but it wasnt cheap, I think the part alone is £120ish new. It's a window out job and fair pain so we took it in to get done. Renault wanted somthing like £400 for the job.

    NOOOOOOOOO arg

Haha thats just like my dad. He helped AG srp my clio once and his polishing rag dropped on the floor every 10 minutes, but I didn't mind too much! I'm sure I was much less careful with his cars when I was a nipper. On the fip side; When I was a kid me and my mate asked his dad if we could...

    Flooded Car

Hope your car will be OK!! Many years ago I worked at a bodyshop and we use to get flooded cars that had been parked in the local car parks. Not sure on the finer details but some were written off if they had been sitting for a number of days as the water was considered to be toxic (from...

    Fuel savers

Probably snake oil but I suppose less rolling resistance is something to do with the saving in petrol. The tests were probably conducted in an endurance type situation on an oval track and the saving was calculated that way so under normal driving I doubt they would make a huge difference...

    cleaned the arches today!

I did my arches front and rear off side the other day, didn't get a chance to do the other side that will be done some time later. My neighbour gave me a massive tin of waxoil so I AG SRP'd the painted parts, copper slipped all the bolt threads and then used some of the waxoil on any welds and...

    Clay Bars are pish!

T-Cut is a doom word on here but I happen to agree with you that when it's used sparingly and infrequently it's not bad stuff, I usually have a bottle around (which has lasted years). I use it mainly for getting rid of nasty scratches etc so for a commercial product it aint to bad at removing...

    Egg marks

Those are the exact marks I had on previous car I've always wondered what they were, t the time I just thought it was careless painting at a bodyshop.

Door Dents on my poor Clio

I ued to like the element of owning an old car, I just didnt worry about things like carpark dints, the irony is that the bodywork on my old Scirocco would have taken a good smack before it even started to dent. On a previous car (I cared about) I managed to dent a panel just by closing the...

NEW CAR!!!!(what a way to start my ownership)

Fantastic condition that rear arch is mint!!! I'm really loving the Mk1 just recently, I'm even thinking of selling my Mk2 and moving 'up' to a Mk1 ;) Just a quick question though, how much better does the 1.8 go compaired to your old 1.4? Are the 1.4's fairly good overall? I ask this because...

    clio 1.6s

I feel privileged then! Mines a Y-reg Mk2 Ph1 1.6RSi in Black Pearl Metallic 676 with half leather and alloy bonnet and boot. Totally standard (even the origional CD player) and excellent condition throughout, fsh (90% Renault) Renault dealer fitted alarm, 1 prev owner 83k miles. Out of...

    Bodywork

Basicly you mention you want a good shine and dont want an expensive job, unfortunatly you may end up devalueing your car if the spray job is cack so factor that into the cheapness of a job. A good (££££) re-spray may even add value to a car. Respraying car = expensive job Respraying car in...

    the fight against rust

Exactly. A temporary fix (cheap bodge!!) would be to flat the paint to the metal and remove rust and treat with something like kurust and then fill (if needed to get a level surface or use a filler primer if minimal) then prime and top coat. If the rust has made a hole (rot) you might as well...

    Black Clio turbo

I love the idea of the turbo coupe. Exceptional value, practicle, fantastic engine, tunable even on a small budget, nice interior (when leather), rapid, infact I like everything about them except I'm just too shallow to see past the way they look; in my opinion they are irregularly proportioned...

    Gutted

Were there any warning signs for the diesel? If not: Ask the council / police if a previous accident was recorded where you had yours, if there was the diesel could be a spillage from an earlier collision. It is the councils duty to clean up or place warning signs for diesel on the road, if...

Sequencing software for Music - Mac.

Hmmm interesting, I'll have to look into that, cheers. I saw it a while back and figured it was going to be a bit basic and cheesy but if your mate is making money off the back of it then it (or he :) ) must be pretty good.

Sequencing software for Music - Mac.

I'm looking for any decent sound sequencer to start creating music on my mac, any recommendations???? I used to use ProTrakker and NoiseTrakker type 4 channel sequencers on the Amiga and St years ago, basicly I want an advanced version of this sort of software. I've heard of Jeskola Buzz...

Just been in for my bonnet catch

^^^ I'm not sure, just pop in but he did ask me to see my letter and then stamped it for me. Tbh he could trace your car through the computer database and then amend the details of the recall on your car to say it's been inspected, maybe ask for a photocopy of the job sheet to put in the file...

    v6 Replica Pics

I would spend a bit more cash and get some front fogs, RS grille and sell the rear lights then install some from a ph2. Please dont take offense but the worst feature is the 1.2 engine you have under the bonnet, it looks like it means business but couldn't pull the skin off a custard. (some...

Just been in for my bonnet catch

I got the recall letter about 2 weeks ago so I thought while I was in Renault picking up a touch up pen I'd ask about them having a look at the latch to get it signed off with Renault (for any future owners peace of mind) regardless of the fact that i spray the catch every couple of months...

Has your car ever been vandalised??

A line of red spray paint down the whole length of the bodywork on one of my previous cars, it also happend to everyone else who lived on the road. A series of dents (hit with a stick I presume) all on the back 1/4 and on the boot of my last car.
