Has it had all 4 new coils? Needs 4 ideally these may aswell be made of chocolate
53 plate, have you got any warranty left? If so get it there before it runs out tell them to sort it.
Sounds like your throttle body is sticking. Give it a clean see if it helps.
Yeah there a b*****d for seizing on. Best thing todo is bash them a couple of times with a hammer, this loosens them up no end, the either use a T30/40 on a ratchet/air gun, or a impact screwdriver (Worth buying very cheap never fails). Wire brush them and put loads of copper slip round them and...
Yes mate there inside the drums, or thats the proper way todo it really. Adjust them, put the drum on, adjust a bit more, put the drum on, keep doing this till theres just contact between the shoes and the drum. Put the drums on, tighten the hubnut, go underneath, remove the heatshield and...
From what you've described I'd say wheel bearing. Get the front of the car jacked up and on axle stands mate. Then spin up the wheels in turn as fast as you can, you should be able to hear one side is grinding/louder than the other. Easy job at a garage to change, most places would have it done...
Keep pumping the pedal mate if you've just changed your pads, your pushing the pistons out by doing this. If you hold your foot on the brake when you start it, it will go down/soft slightly.
Go easy on them for a bit, keep pumping them too
Solid. Very reliable, keep doing oil and filter changes on it and it'll run for years. Cambelts easy todo, clutch is easy todo, headgasket is easy todo. You can't go wrong. I gave my old one death everywhere and couldn't kill it. Not once did it miss, cut out, not start.
I've seen one with...
If your brake fluid level is low, most likely means your pads are shagged, the idea of the light is to let you know when the levels low, which (in theory) means your pads are low.
Yeah lower then in with a magnet/pin nosed pliers. Then put the socket on with the extension and go as far as you can with that. You can't go wrong as the tubes are that small it holds the socket dead straight anyway.
Yes, the coils & leads will be exposed when you remove the engine cover.
Tim, turn the ignition off, remove the plastic engine cover, slowly pull/work the coils and leads out, and you can see the top of the plugs. Don't over tighten them too much, and don't crossthread them start them first.
Matt you don't mean that for a 1.2 surely?
Re: Dodgy Mk2 Clio bonnets on Watchdog
Don't use WD40 its too light and won't last 5 minutes. Clean it all up, then cover the thing in copper grease, where the bit you pull to pop the bonnet, that sticks forward. Grease where it touches the bonnet, or on Ph1s grease where the metal sits in the...
I'd check your drain pipes, where they go after going 'in' the sunroof.
Remove sunroof glass, and trim, lower headlining, you'll see 2 tubes going downwards on either side of the car, these can block, and it pisses out where the tube joins the sunroof drains. Next time you strip it aswell...
Harry wheres doncaster roughly?
Have you tried the ring end of the spanner on it? Have you soaked it in penetrating fluid aswell?
Thats the type of socket you want, the cut out for the wiring, and either a ratchet on the end, or the nut type for the spanner.
I'd go for the Clio, but don't get the 1.4, its a big car and that engine isn't upto the job. Get them to take you out in the Dynamique S 2.0 or the 106BHP DCI, plus the lack of FIAT dealerships can be worrying.
Dave, wherabouts are you in London? I'd be willing to travel to help todo your pads FOC depending where you are. I'd be getting your wheels off to check your pad wear mate as they can sometimes 'exagerate' the wear to 'get the work in' so to speak. :nono: Easy job aswell.
When you say they've...
If all else fails you can buy a fancy socket that fits over them (and is cut to allow for the wires) But I'd just persevere(sp) with it. Just don't round the nut
Check your sensors mate, for cracks and splits, or even at that age snapped at the hub end of the sensor. Might have knocked the arch lining and its rubbed through
How many miles do you do Matt? Regular short/stop start journeys?
Common on the 1.2s wouldn't worry, just wipe it off, if you feel the need change the oil and filter aswell but I wouldn't bother, common as muck
