1 Clip needs removing, then theres 2 pegs towards the middle of the car, push them in, then theres another little clip holding it against the wing, just yank it off.
You'll need a 6mm socket, or a pair of pliers
Lots of travelling... Mk1 1.9 Diesel? Mk2 1.5 DCI?
Both much better for fuel econemy and you'll be very suprised at the DCI's performance for an oil burner.
www.gsfcarparts.com should be able to haggle some discount if you buy a fair bit
I'd get a timing belt kit personally its not worth a tensioner going a few days later. For the sake of an extra £20 its worth doing an oil and filter change.
You'll get most stuff in the head set, just tell...
No pump mate its electric. The alternater belt can still be squeaking(SP) though. Make sure its not loose/too tight can't remember off the top of my head if 1.4s are auto/manual tensioning
No coil packs on 1.4/1.6's.
I'd say one of your coils as well, use the above method, or undo all 4 coil bolts, start it up, and pull each coil up, the one that doesn't make any/little difference to the idle will be the duff coil. You should also be able to hear which one is duff.
Whatever you do, Make sure its a genuine cable, non-genuine cables cause more problems than they solve.
Book time for cable on a Valver is only 1 hour, 95% sure of that
Technically you only need the cam locking tool (horseshoe shaped bit) crank pin (short fat metal rod with a few threads) and a T50 bar (slightly bent piece of metal with a small Torx50 on one end)
Can be a bit of a pain to get out, worst case is your taking the head off.
I'd douse it in WD40, get out your Torx sockets, find one that fits in the hole tightly, then go up a size (Should be about T50) then bash this on STRAIGHT with a hammer & an extension, try to undo it like that.
I...
What did the unmarked car do? Just pull up behind the patrol car or something?
Looks like you just recorded a few cop cars, & got a mate in a florescent jacket lol
The gaiter kit will be less than a tenner, takes a little while as you have to removed the track rod end to slide the old one off/slide the new one on.
Not a 7 hour job to be honest, can be done in half that easily without rushing. Take your time, make sure everything goes back in the same place.
I'd get the crack in your header tank sorted first
Figures make the DCI's look far slower than they really are, like the figures Parkers give say. I can keep up with 1.6s giving it the large one to about a tonne, then I'd say they pull infront (tried & tested) Mines standard. Bmh you'll have to have a play in mine if your only in sunny Nuneaton...
Oil & filters is supposed to be changed every service (18k) but if you want your engine to last I'd get it done say every 9k. For that price I'd get it done at National Tyres you can't go wrong.
