And it is MY point of view. there is no need to say i'm an idiot. i race too, FWD now and RWD in the past. i was stating the cup has to be treated with respect as it has no electronic brain braking for you! when i had my valver(in my younger years) it would face the oposite direction if you...
i understand what you are saying, but what annoys me is people who buy a non abs cup and can't drive it......go and buy a model with abs if all you do is stamp on the brakes in an emergency! i've learnt how to brake properly, i've been driving a 205 for the last 3 years and their brakes...
Greenlight are rubbish............wouldn't quote for my slightly modded cup "because they have had too many claims from single vehicle incidents with that model"(basically people who can't drive a non abs cup!) ! i got my insurance using confused.com ( can't remeber the company) £409,fully comp...
I hope you can help....when i turn on my ignition my warning lights all come on then some go out (which i think is normal) but the oil pressure warning light goes out too! (engine not running!) i noticed it when i changed the oil cos on most cars the light will stay on for a bitand i was looking...
If your light is on check the lambda isn't broke. my light was off for about 6 months then came on, thought, oh the light thing, it'll go out, still hasn't gone out 6 months later, but just had it tested and the probe is bust. £90 from renault!
I've got Y 539's on mine and i agree with the wet problems, fun in a cup with no abs i can say. I'm also looking to change to t1r's too. be interesting what ppl have to say
Daz
The 172 cup comes with 2 cans of tyre foam, no spare wheel but all the tools to change it with! so i saved some more weight and the jack lives in the shed!
What about another renault gearbox, like the megane 225? can i do a meggy tranplant and tune that instead of doing the turbo thing on the 172? ( the entire engine / gearbox)
Daz
How much power can i put through my standard 172 cup box without lunching it? will it take turbo power with an lsd and a new clutch (300 bhp)?
Thanks Daz
(thinking of wasting 7 grand on a turbo conversion!)
The cup doesn't have a weight sensor for the rear brakes, it's preset at the factory and you can't change it! i know cos i think my cup brakes are pants too and i've been trying to sort them for about 2 months now. all you can do really is uprate the discs and pads all round, grooved is good...
Thanks Read that:lolup:
I agree the cup was race track born and thats how i like it (i race a stockcar) but i agree with one post i read that Renault could have saved even more weight and not fitted the brakes at all! LOL
oh well have to put up with rusty discs and MOT failing problems!
Cheers Daz
Wagging the tail would be one thing, IF it would do it! i get more lift off oversteer than rear brakes causing the arse to wonder!
locking the rear when unloading......it don't even lock on gravel!
surely thats bad then cos do you have people in the back all the time? if not that means your car is unsafe because it can't pass an mot without people in the back. my 205 will lock all 4 wheels if you really push hard, not just front or rears!
there has to be something that can be done to make them work, i'm fed up of having to use the handbrake to try and clean em up and locking the fronts because the backs don't work properly
take it for a thrash.
the eggy smell is the chemical reaction in the cat, if the cat was dead there would be no smell, however it could still be dying!
drive it hard for a bit get the cat really hot and see what happens
Daz
i think you'll find the cup HAS got one, how else does it stop all presure going to the rear discs? believe me all pressure is not going to the rear discs cos the brakes at the mo don't hardly remove the surface rust, and the handbrake locks the back wheels! I've found the valve, similar to...
mine is on all the time cos my 2nd lambda sensor is dead and i aint got round to changing it. it don't make any difference cos a lot of de-cat cause the sensor to be on. could be you cat on the way out or the sensor. thrashing your engine for a bit may clear it out but maybe not. best idea is to...
green light in 5th is about 145 indicated on a 172 cup, i say about cos i was too busy looking at the road to see the speed.
(all on a private track of course)( and the 172 is nearly standard, stainless steel ex)
i agree with what you are sayin bout the aircon, still don't bother me, my wife had a yellow punto with a/c before the clio, quite good, but i have a 12 year old 205 w/o it and like i said 'not bothered' i drive 120 miles a day in the old girl (205 not the wife, lol) and the big glass sunroof is...
whats wrong with cloth seats? least they are not freezing cold in the winter and burning hot in the summer. and i don't sit in traffic, i overtake it (safely of course). i don't want a/c, i have windows. i haven't got a/c in the house cos i don't need it. i don't live in the car so why should it...
i weigh 11 stone, so go on find another 50 kgs to save.
a cup is not scabby, novas are. your only jealous. how can it not be a nice place to sit....its still a clio????
a dynamique doesn't have 170 bhp!
anyway i like my cup cos it have less electric thinggies to go wrong...with renault...
