Very nice garage, its not really a choice with the Subaru as I simply dont like the looks of them and I simply couldnt afford one so its a no go, if i could afford a car with STI pace i would go for an M3, RS4, unfortunately I cant so i think I will stay with the 182
d.brown: when you said you beat him easy, by how many car lengths and from what speed (i.e. 0-100)
My brother had a 330ci and he was glued to the back of a CTR, (even having to change up slightly earlier than normal) where as with my 182 he was neither gaining or being pulled away from...
Just been looking in Autocar and the STI is about 1.6 secs faster to 100 than the V6 255 and 0.7 faster to 60 but the V6 has a slightly higher power to weight ratio and theres not much in torque
So i assume this is down to gearing, traction and aerodynamics
I think you have summed up what i am thinking, i love the way the V6 looks and although i have yet to drive one from what i have read and heard they are supposed to be fantastic to drive with a great soundtrack from that V6
The problem for me and the thing that is giving me doubts, is that...
What sort of mpg does the V6 get? I think Im going to have to have a test drive, a good look at my finances and then if i fancy it then its down to persuading the missus!
PS is the V6 much wider, My 182 fits in the garage and i was wondering if the V6 would be a problem?
I have had my 182 a year now and love it too bits but like all car enthuiasts Im always looking at other cars.
Over the last few weeks I have took a huge liking to the V6 (255 verison)
What I want to know is the people who have taken this move whether they think its worth it or not, why...
There is nothing in it in terms of performance between any of the Renaulsport Clios, there are only a few BHP/Per tonne difference between the lots of them. Then put into the mix factors such as amount of fuel on board, weight of driver and the actual power the engine produces and there is...
The ST170 was supposed to be a really car, all the reviews said it was good just underpowered, the RS had mix views awesome on the track not so good on the road
As above but which one do you think would win down the quarter mile strip?
Also has anyone any experience of other hot hatches coming up against each other and results, be particular interested in peoples results in the V6 and 182
Yeah the build is better and I assume customer service is better too! but honestly I dont think the build of my 182 is that bad, yes it could be better and its clear they have cut corners, but its nowhere near as bad as my mates 206 when you slam the door it feels and sounds like it will come off!
I dont see any reason to get the Type R over the Clio other than space (182 so much better value for money, more toys etc) and if its space your after I would buy something else
agree, according to autocar:
Honda Civic Type R= 16,380 retains 60% value = 9828 after 3 years
Clio 182 = 14,800 retains 49% value =7272 after 3 years
No discount on CTR and say the average 182 is bought for 13k then it retains 56% of its value, so theres not that much in it
Agree, lets be honest unless you go on track days you wont get anywhere near the potential of the handling and if you do on the road then I hope you dont live near me!
Alot is said about the handling on this site but Im sure there are very fews of us who could extract 50% of the cars ability...
When I came to the buy the 182 I never really considered the Type R, I dont feel it represents good value for money against the 182, If I would have had 16K etc to spend I think I would have looked at a used RS or a new LCR or Meg 225
What does everybody think to the concept car?
Me personally I think it looks nice, I dont think it will be faster than the 182, Im pretty convinved it wont handle better, it will be more comfortable though and probably built better! So swings & rounabouts really
I will test drive one but I...
The clios strong points are that its as fast as the other two until silly speeds (talking 100mph plus), its cheap and its well equipped.
The downside is that becuase its cheap the build quality isnt brilliant although its not as bad as some say and the dealers are rubbish
Forgot to mention...
