Absolutely, deffinitely and most certainly - youd be mad not to bearing in mind my experience. I bought a nice looking car with lots of work done to it, but have spent the best part of £4k getting it "perfect" in the last year. Please just have one done. Costs under £100, which sounds...
Is that on a Clio 16-Valve (of 1991-96 vintage) or on a multivale engined Clio post 1998?
If its on a Valver then its not strictly meant to happen, but it does periodically anyway! Ive had mine say EEEEK to me - weird or what?! I think its used as a diagnostics screen for Renault...

I tried to create a 16v out of my old 1.2 (1995). Basically, youre better off making something that looks really nice, but doesnt go as well as it should! In the end I bought a 16v, because I was going to have to spend way too much to get what I wanted.

Well, Im recommending that he gets a 406 TD or similar at about £3-4000. The used prices of these rep-boxes is astonishing! This sort of money gets you a 60k miled TD with air, electrics, ABS and a token bit of "luxury" (a strip of fake wood!) on a T/V plate.

Problem for my mate is that the car is his mile munche, so he needs a car pronto.
However, when I spek to him tonight Im going to recommend he gets a "new" car, then re-builds the Rover at his leisure to sell later on. Good thinking Slarty!

I moved to it from Top Gear types to Car, then to Evo...now Im on CCC.
I think that as my thirst for technical knowledge increases, and as I get a liittle older, I have more of an interest in the detail that you dont get in the "Consumer" type mags. Evo is good, but they still have to...

Ok guys - sorry this isnt exactly totally Clio related, but its still to do with cars and my mate needs your advice:D
Basically, the head on his 1996 vintage Rover 400 1.6 (K-series jobbie) has cracked - and taken lots of ancillary bits with it - so a new engine is the "cheapest" option. That...

Very fast in a straight line, but a good hot hatch like a Willy/16v/172/106/205 would give it a headache on the A/B-roads.
Curiously, Ive still to come across anything thats really blown me away - apart from some Jap motorbike off the Severn Bridge tolls. 0-60 in 3/4 seconds I think! Made...
The 2.0 Twin Spark would be easy meat for a 172 - and most reasonable hot hatches. The latest 2.0s are up to 165bhp, but the older ones (and that means almost all of them) are 150bhp ones. Fantastic engines still, but not a real challenge for a 172.
The 3.0 V6 would be a more interesting...
