That's true, but those engines are rebuilt most weekends. I've always thought along the lines of: treat it like a race car, look after it like a race car.
as long as you look after it properly, there's no reason why it shouldn't handle the abuse
Would there be any need for something that big? I'd imagine that the DCi's run at quite low boost pressures and low charge temps, so you'd only need a small IC to keep things cool?
Would a DCi be affected by throttle response/ turbo lag like a petrol would with a bigger IC?
Something like an...
Mine had a remote wire from the head unit to it to turn it on and off as with the amp. Does yours have this or just a live feed from the battery.
Mine made no difference to the lights flashing at all to my 03 1.4 16v clio though!
I used to have a basic Blitz timer on my 5 turbo. It needed 2 earths bolted to the chassic, a wire to the handbrake switch to act as a cut out, a constant live feed then two more which joined onto the 2 ignition wires so it could monitor the electric pulses when revving. It showed it all in the...
Awesome project!!!!
What kind of IC or CC are you running, as there's not much room in a standard 5 to go for a front mount?
What kind of revs does the turbo start to spool up
They should have asked you what car you had when you ordered the wheels? Then they should have checked if they came with an appropriate offset. The offset is sometimes stamped/cast on the inside face of the wheel that meets the hub
You will notice when a rear shock is blown, handling is bumping and bouncing all over the place with a real lack of grip at the rear end. Mine was knocking for almost a week before I notice the fluid leaking, but then I'd just thrashed it down a real bumpy B-road for a road test
Thanks for all the response, I'm still a little unsure about them as I've just read again in another thread about it actually looking higher at the rear??
How long would you say it takes for the springs to set in at there ride height? I've only ever lowered my 5 Turbo before which only had...
That sounds about right at Renaults standard labour charge!!
Have a go yourself, don't really need any specialist tools to do it either. Take the wheel off and you should only have to take off one bolt that holds the caliper to the carrier, then swivel it open and you should be able to get...
I have been reading through so many threads about this after doing a search and the answer still doesn't seem clear!
I'm after a slight drop in the ride height but don't really want it any stiffer, if it makes it handle better then it's a bonus. What springs should I go for, Prolines or...
It sounds like you're hitting the rev limiter.
It's there to stop you over revving your enjoy and damaging the internals etc. In theory it won't do any harm hitting the limiter, but also it won't do it any good.
When accelerating hard hitting the limiter will actual slow you down, best to...
I would agree with that partly, but on many occassions (such as driving home from work 17 miles) I drive the car normally until I'm almost home then I give it some stick pulling onto the by-pass, and the first couple of times the rev limiter will still try and cut in early. Not until I've done...
I thought maybe I had missed something as I was reading through the thread.
Back to the original question though, if the 1.8 16v clio passes it's MOT and is in good running order then save your money and buy it instead of a 172, you will enjoy every second of it.
Although maybe get the...
If the wheels are the same in this advert but painted gold, then they are the standard Speedline Turbines that came with the 1.8 16v, only painted gold
Doesn't the lamda sensors either side of the catalytic convertor relay back to the ECU which changes the air/fuel/timings settings accordingly? So if the cat isn't operating at 100% until it's at the appropriate temperature it's going to feed back unreliable readings?
I read this from the...
The idle on start up for a standard 1*2 is lumpy due to the Catalytic converter needing to warm up before it works properly hence the poor running. Mine isn't exactly bad compared to my old cars that ran carbs
And ideally you shouldn't rev higher than 3k until the engine/ oil/ water is at full...
Southend is kind of bareable if there's enough of you to point and laugh as the chavs go by :nono: .
It seems that somewhere around Chelmsford/ A12 area would be ok to get to for most in Essex?
Have a look at K-Tec Racing, they do a stealth exhaust system for your car but not sure if just the back box will fit to your existing system.

A friend recently got a new rear beam for his 106 GTi and took him ages to find one locally. As soon as a new one came into a garage they were already pre ordered. Ended up with a Saxo VTS rear beam
I was under the same impression, I was told this by the RenaultSport salesman and before anyone says anything, I've known him for years so he wouldn't have any reason to make it up as I'd already bought the car
Would like to say a big thankyou to Dcds4 for letting me check out his Ph-1 172 and take it for a test drive. It is one very clean car!
I can easily say that I could still enjoy driving if I changed to one of these, there is still the same characteristics but some subtle differences to keep me...
