You're obviously revving it too hard.. I used to get 400+ miles to £40 in mine. Regular driving. Nearer 450 on the motorways, and neither of those, was I driving particularly gently.

You've got a few options. First WD40 and wire brush. Then try the socket again.. Next, heat with a blowtorch. Might work. Last, angle grinder. Nothing argues.
