I think the 'lightness' is just a characteristic of the cars. When I swapped my front shocks, it felt 10x more planted though.. Might be worth a shot..

Get those calipers painted black or silver! Gutted about the gearbox. I know first hand what a pig it is. Luckily, mine started first time after moving the earth strap.

It's still not a twenty minute job! Without the power to back it up, ratios in Clio boxes won't make a noticable difference, imo. If you're intent, strip it, uprated suspension and brakes. Corners are more fun than traffic light grand prixs. ;)
