removing power steering in a 172 cup?

it wouldn't be my preferred route but some have a problem with looping a ps rack which is all a non assisted rack is.

removing power steering in a 172 cup?

Haha, out of interest how did you do it? Loop the rack full with oil as when mine was dry I would agree it was bordering on horrendous.

removing power steering in a 172 cup?

I'm with you here Barky, I much prefer the non assisted feel although I have not experienced it on my own car yet, my thinking is its a ton car so can't be too bad lol. Many have done it and some don't like it, from my research it's usually the people who are using their cars as a daily that...

It will work mate but if you have any spare of your 51mm then i would use it. have you considered making one of these to swage your cut down pipes to stop them popping off with boost. http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/photos.php?action=showphoto&photo=pipe%20swage%20tool%20home%20made.jpg

I was meaning to run everything in 51mm pipe but spin your intercooler so that the 63mm side of the intercooler was on the side leading to the throttle body. If you have room to run 63mm to tb and then step upto 70mm for the tb it will still work but as I have said, keeping smaller pipes will...

    Attemping boosted ph1

Use 51mm pipe throughout, just use reducers to connect upto turbo, intercooler and tb. It's just your intercooler that needs spun so that the biggest connection is on the side from the turbo. It will give a slightly better flow. i think your getting your wires twisted here dan, what is the...

So to confirm I have the 37/33 5th gear fitted in my 130 but I could fit the jc5 106 5th to lower top speed( what car is this from)

Yeah that's only for making the track wider. Cheaper to stay with your standard width. The benefit of doing this is, you get wider track without moving the wheel away from the strut like spacers/low offset wheels do and giving camber while allowing the wheel to be parallel to the strut. The...

All I'm worried about this year is the two wheels lock together lol, later on I will evaluate the need to change ratios as I drive mine more. Can you give a % difference with my 4.29 final drive against the 130 box please chip. Your good with numbers n s**t! Edit: PM me if you want to save...

Are you referring to my newly purchased g/box ? :S You have me worried now, although In marks defence, he has been good with me and everyone has an off day as has been said which is less than some that seem to have off years and keep overpricing and giving bad descriptions hmm hmm cough ITB's.

That 132 figure was purely off the top of my head as I'm unsure if that is cup, just remembered hearing that. When I said "closer ratio's " I meant different final drives, the wrong choice of words from me really as it doesn't close up the ratios like Kennys box would by actually changing...

Interesting, I have thought about having a few kits made to change the roll centre. Would only be a trial thing and wouldn't be backed up by computer simulation or any of that jazz. Are you doing this with Northloop cup?

A cup racer will hand your ass to you on the corners in a road Clio with good mods, the g/box can be brought out of the argument as you will rarely change mid corner. I'm speaking from having seen both on 1b tyres I.e 888 etc. Have a look at Iceman's race vids for some reference, not forgetting...

I don't have my cup g/box to hand to check, afaik they are a 132 from what I have read? Different ratio between phase 1, 2 and cup is what I have heard :S ?!? edit: just read ash's above post for 089.

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

I plan to use what I have, I was told it was a 14/60 4.29, 10% reduction I believe? I just looked and and its a jc5 130 non speedo drive so I'm presuming its a 182 box with slightly longer ratios than the 172 cup, is that right? 172 cup is the best of all ratios in the 1*2 range?

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Did you find there was a "okay" setup for Clio friendly track's like Brands and Oulton and a comprise for the likes of Silverstone where its more a power circuit where clio's don't compete for wins so much? If so what was the FD ratio?

    172 Sump Guard

Sounds the ticket, I think I'm going to do mine in plywood and copy the evo group n design that acts as a splitter aswell. If wood works for F1 under trays.... it will do me :p For Circuit not forest mind.

    Attemping boosted ph1

Aye and know as there will be a pressure drop at the other side of the intercooler? Not to worry with a low boost car but you want to keep smaller pipework to keep it punchy throughout the revs anyway.
  24. M

    Attemping boosted ph1

Exactly what I have been telling dan by PM, his intercooler can be spun in all directions from the looks of it, its symmetrical apart from the stupid different inlet/outlet sizes. I can't see the thinking behind that.

    172 manifold on a 182

If its cheapness your needing, go for your 172 idea, if you have the manifold and 172 system, fit all that up and move the rear exhaust mount from 182 to 172 position. Cut and weld the tailpiece "stealth style" instead of having 3 holes in the bumper. This will cost you nothing if you have the...

    172 Sump Guard

Im guessing you spaced it down or shaped it to clear the sump as a flat sheet won't work being strapped to the subframe,?

Would you say that's the fastest your getting on the tracks you've been Tony?
  28. M

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

IMO getting to the top speed quicker is more beneficial as a whole on most UK circuits over limiting on a few straights 'potentially' In reality in most club racing the over taking is done on corner exit and on the first 85% of a straight, it's not really the done thing to stick one down the...

    Attemping boosted ph1

Yeah that shouldn't be an issue, its preferred if you don't reduce it back down after that but it isn't possible with some of these conversions. I,e your intercooler inlet should be same size or smaller than the outlet which isn't the case with yours from you've said. The bigger the piping and...
