Theres 3 types of plebhams
172 phase 1
172 phase 2
182.
You can swop the last two the first is different best drop BenR a message
I think BenR/Hill power have exchange units they send you there modified one you send your old one back when you've swopped it.
How long is a piece of string its impossible to say I'd say 70k is a minimum most are fine though there are one with 150k+on stock pumps.
It runs off the AUX belt.
1) Yep thats the one pain to get to the gearbox cannpt be checked like this you need to top it up if it comes out it full.
2) Alarm as standard on Uk spec cars ring Renault to check otherwsie check for window etching and the alarm sensors on the front windscreen pillars and down by the...
Quite a few people would want one the markets there no point using the 197 engine though migh as well use a more basic engine and run boost the Megan engine and box would be ideal would make for a suitable GT Clio.
Personally I'd like to have seena lighter one more Cup racer speced.
Why bother with a V6 its a heavy engine.
300hp isn't difficult in a Clio N20 the easy option plus there lighter than the Fiat so your on a winner.
Mike T get probably the msot modified car here 450hp or so and sequenchail; box but that out 99.9% of people budget say 10k for the engine...
Quickfit etc will sometimes fit it its a cash in hand job if they do as they arn't officially a place to do it any garage can do it though although since you have a torsion bar at the back they can be a pain with rust etc.
Personally best ensure your ball joint etc are decient before spending...
IMO chnage them regardles of what he thinks. FI they fail its at best nw tensioners which is a oaod of work to strip back down and new AUX belt it worst its a new engine since broken AUX belt takes out the cambelt which wrecks valves.
72k/5years is when the belt is recomended to be done hich can be expensive so thats one thing to take account off the dampers can need changing but that depends on drivers etc. Also clutches can go and gearbox arn't that stron but many people are lasting well over 70k 70k wouldn't worry me even...
Its the common fault with 172's exhauts Renault should have mentioned it but they cannot 100% for sure say how bad it is if they said it was already ready to fll off and it didn't people would call them liers.
if your easy on it 60mpg isn't difficuly best drop ad a PM he'll most likly drive his easy I hammer mine all the time and thats gives between 50 and 55mpg.
If you want cheap motoring I'd try the last type diesel engine the last shape Clio came in 1.9 diesel spec which can be less problematic...
You could run one from the TDCsensor.
The wiring the same as the phase 2 cars I think I'll get a colour wire Sunday for you if you want.
You'd need to take the dash top off to do to tap into the looms for the dash though.
172 kit won't suit a none RS car the hubs are 54mm which some Mk2 phase 1's used otherwsie if its a phase 2 its got either 52mm or 58mm (52 is very rare 1.2 8 and 16V only)
The rears will fit fine but the springs are much harder and the dampers arn't right for a none RS.
Coilovers is the way...
Glad you bought it in the end Martin, I take its going for the usual Martin interier trim levels aiming for some quit time what it like compared to the old fast one.
I'd have been interested on your old cars bottom end (as I guess this was the reason it was so quick) with the top end etc from...
If the holes have enough give in them your ok they've have to have a load though 54m to 60mm the different hubs are that a lot maybe with camber bolts.
