Iv had this problem on many 172 cups and it always seems to be the cups that do it.
Its water in the alarm. Remove the scuttle panel/wipers/wiper mechanism and you will see the siren.
Dissconect it and they should stop flashing.

Remove trim across the top of the glove box. Undo screws underneath. Remove panel off the side of the dash, remove screw/screws. Undo single screw inside glovebox at top. Then yank.
Basically the ph2 172 stereo has alot better sound coming out of it than my ph1 172. Why is this? Is it the output of the radios? As far as I can tell the speakers are the same?
If I were to buy a later radio, would this be an 'upgrade' to mine?

Pull the emergency key blade out of the card, here will be a single battery in there. A CR 2016 iirc.
The hole for the key card is under the radio/hazard switch.
If the warning light is illuminated, there will be stored fault. You need to get it fault tested. Theres no use in just bolting new parts on willy nilly.
It will either be an overboosting issue or fuel presure.
