Best idea is to get a whole R5 GTT doner car. You need the Mk1 night and day engine model engine mounts I think.
Brun had this conversion done on his car best to PM him.
best upgrade to do would be a complete rebuilt on the engine no point pushing boost to 25psi if the engine 20 year old...
Renault or a breakers yard.
List price on all the parts is £2k ish excluding painting.
Renault sell a sports body kit but its not like the 2.0 realy for £600 or so (they sell 3 infact but thats the sort of price your looking) excluding painting.
I'm sure 14's are the limit on this setup.
R5GTT calipers are the same as the Williams/Valver/Renault 5GTT/Mk2 phase 1 1.6 16V or any Mk2 phase 2 except the 1.2 8V's they just use a different caliepr bracket and smaller disk (238mm). Same disk as the other (none RS) Clio use.
See above post Hopefully Middo can get some picture of the brackets I took off his car when you buy second hand brakes you sometimes get these thrown in as well.
Yep you get the parts.
You need the 259mm disk (might as well get new onees halford charge £60 you can get them for £50 though from GSF I think etc.
Then you need pads stock FDB 845 from halfords are fine unless you drive Bedford race circuit hard and there only £17.
Calipers you need are...
Calipers and the brackets the calipers bolt to yep are a direct fit. will increase your disk size from 238 to 259mm and you'l have the same brakes at the front as a Valver or Williams.
Why it being sold the new owners not wonered it long? Especially if there ownly buying another Clio not like they need a family/cheaper car suddenly.
It should be reliable no idea what exact bits were used or GDi'd willingness to warently there work (i'd imagine they would be) clutch is likly...
Have you managed to clean the disks up yet?
Couldn't believe how long it took though
Stupid wheel weights as well.
I though there was gold bars in the Stella box dam it I got ripped off. Evn if they were gold bars you've have got a bargin.
Are they all ok now?
I'm working on the...
I love it when it says full service histry when the cars only had one service.
Its overprices more thna £2.5k IMO.
The airbag a has blow so thats whats caused the repair costs to be that high as to write it off.
If you want to buy it best read here what to do about the airbags wich has...
Personally I'd do the service myself the parts arn't much and it doesn't take that long.
The cambelt well GDI/Rentech or a Renault minute garage are your best bets preferably one out of town as they have lower labour rates. You'd be looking at I'd guess £250 from GDi (cambridge way) and Rentech...
Thats quite low realy.
Price best look on the trader see what there advertisee up for I'd expect £5.5k. I'd suspect there selling as the cambelt at 72k is quite expensive at Renault.
Servicing rules/time/whats done etc (172/182)
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=107873...
Say £270 for the service at a Renault delaership £200 at none Renault dealerships.
But also at 72k the cambelt needs chnaging (assuming it hasn't been changed as the cars at 5years old first) so that £350 or so.
Also chnaging the coolent is an extra £50 or so.
Servicing rules/time/whats...
Sounds like the siders a bit stuck. You know the thing you put your spanner on to stop it spinning when you undid the caliper well it goes in and out sound like your is a bit stuck so when you brake all the pressure is being aplied to you inside pad. Its not diffuclt to fi take the caliper off...
Demon Tweeks sell a range.
The 172 isn't 25mm wider though on each side I think you only need 10mm ones, any more than 10mm and you'll wear though hub bearings very quickly. You'll want longer bolts as well with 10mm spacers.
Yes they will make the ride height lower (assuming you set them up that wat) roll will be reduced and you can go faster round bends. Also depending how you like cars setup its more controllable beyond the limit.
FK's are just not quite as good as H and R's.
You could return the Fk's without fitting them saying your not happy under your statuatory rights they haveot refund you the full amount (read up thougn on exactly what you canr efuse them on).
The difference between the two is that coilovers are like this
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/evo/parts/jic/jic-coilovers-installed.jpg
You can see the threads runnign down the shock and you can adjust this height to lower and higher the car...
The trophy setup is very hard I'd much prefere some Lda/H and R personally. Wheather there better is difficult to say its all subjective.
Infact you could argue what you mean by better I'd argue stock is better on my car than it is on Blisteins and coilovers in many ways.
