I love the paint on the car.
172 conversion is is best value for money option £1.5k+vat for the parts say an extar £300 for a new cambelt and clutch then either fit it himselves/yourselves or get a garage to do it for between £500 and £1.5k depends if they like a project like that.
You cna do it yourself but I've done it once and I got tourrettes half way through it. Its not mworth your sanity to do it a tyre place will do it for free when you get new tyres fitted by them.
You don't need any.
The thing is the standard maps in the EUC are made by Renault to work with all the 1.8 16V they made they take account of an adverage engine since theres so many tolerances its only a good adverage map .Remapping to add more fuel etc where your individual engine needs it...
Just stick a scond hand 8V lump in sell up and buy a 1.216V etc its less hatle.
A phase 2 has an electric throttle body and some different looms. You'd have to resuse the phase 1 throttle body.
A full phase 2 1.2 16V conversion would requre the whole looms UCH fitment etc and for the work...
Silverston I forget the name of them I use them they are good but pricy £100 list price excuding VAT I think. However there road legal ness is questinable Renault mechanics refuse to drive my car on them even though they have E markings. Its not recomended for roa use as they won't last 1k and...
Depending what you want to spend as I said and what you want from the car depends on what you buy a track car your best off spending on brakes, suspension and tyres. Infact in most cases this is your best option.
Renaultsport have a website for parts but its usless since the part numbers only...
How much do you want to spend/hp do you want to get?
You can get anwhere upto 350hp on a 182 engine normally aspirated but thats megga money. Turbo work well 600hp is a good target but gaian pricy.
There are companies lik GDi/Angelworks/Yozzasport who sell kits or can talk you though what...
0-40 is a better oil from cold.
Fully synthetic is good type of oil. Better than stock semi synthetic.
You can use 0-40 its allowed in the Renault spec but its not the commonly used oil.
Best idea is to get your car cumstom mapped from Chipwizards etc. However unless you hve some aftermarket bits ie exhaust intake cam its not worth it for the small gains you'll get.
Itb will work and give you more power. Its not as agood as a full remap but it cna be disconnected and sold on. There is no group N maps for the dci's as group N means almost standard its meant as mapping for race cars which are allowed to have exhaust and induction work which need a bit more...
Since you already know which wheel it si take the wheel of and have a look at the ABS sensor on the hub (there only two pipes going to the hub one for the brakes check the wiring is ok and not worn as they cna do it there not attched correctly to the little bracket thingie on the hub.
Then...
I went though 3 sets or rear dampers in under 8k.
First set lasted 2k only as it took me a while to arange to get Demon tweeks to chnage them. Second set lasted 3k or so.
Nope they hit the limiter at 7.2k the chnage up light coms on and they hit the limiter which is below the maximum speed the clock can show. You'd need loads more power to get to go over the top speed the clock can show and a remap to let the car rev to about 8.5k
Let me borrow your car and...
The 172/182 engine are evolutions of the WIlliams engines and some of them have been over 200k. There one said to be on 300k. SInce the 172 has a engine which is an evolutin is should have any milage problems sorted out.
Yoz's old engine had 80k on it before the bottom end blew up but that...
Yep mounts are the same.
Its just a bolt on but it takes time you've got to take the engine out swop the bottom end and put it back so there a lot of fluids to replace new cambelt (might as well when the engine out as its a pain otherwsie)
Chnaging the ECU for a 2.0 mapped one will mean the...
Clio Mk2 alarms
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=108782
Another common problem is when you lock the car the alarm beeps 2 or 3 times.
Reason: The alarm system has received a signal from the vehicle ECU that the ignition is 'on' causing the alarm to beep. This signal is only...
Some people don't liek them I'm lazy and they've always worked fine so keep them on.
Washer jets leek a lot common problem there a few fixes depends what you want to do either replace them or blcok them up or accept they leak.
I've got a picture at 120mp and thats with just 65hp.
There have abeen a few 172's which have run into the limiter in 5th which is an indicated 152 or so.
The 2.0 bottom end ie what the WIlliams uses is the best idea rarther than using the 1.8 Valver bottome end.
The optimum engine is a rebult Megan bottome dn (seems they are always the quick ones I recon its down to the fact there not as worn personally). Also the Megan 2.0 head is better than...
