The 182 handles better than the Cup IMO. You could get some spacers on your car to widen the track a bit more some 5mm spacers are only cheap I've got some I might try on the track this weekend. The only thing to remember is to get the longer bolts if your getting big spacers.
Its not got spacers its just the wheels offset which widens the track.
You have to have the tracking done after lowering the car.
The car is superb though much better than a 172 with just springs it not figetty or too hard etc. Only thing to be careful off the 182 dampers can fail and some...
Hillpower sell them I think or give R-Sport themseleves a call.
If you get hold of an ECU from a breakers BB should now be able to send it to have its memory blanked and then they can stick new engine maps on then just stick it in your car.
I belive there stock cas which after they've been used are sold on as ex demo models etc.
The safety car labels coverng the plates probably indicate they just cover them up as a lot of people wouldn't want to know they bought an ex safety car.
The 182 would seem to suffer from brake fade due to the wheels design nothing else the pads etc are all the same. The wieght/power difference doesn't make any difference realy IMO. Its the calipers which cannot disipate heat well bigger disks won't realy help. Fog light ducting will help but 4...
They maybe economical but its still a petrol. To put it in prespective my dci has been to Germany and back and it cost me ~£80 in fuel. When I took my Williams it costs £330 in fuel.
I get about 60mpg on a long high speed run in the dci the Williams would get me about 35. Just on one track...
There are no H and R's yet for the 182. Handling is superb on it though better than the 172's with springs. Plus its nice and soft and relitively cheap to do.
It looks higher than I remember though.
Needs a monster 2.2 dci under the bonnet first.
Check the drive shafts for holes and damgae. Might be the drivers side mount see how the engine is located in the cover (just take a picture and I'll try and explain it). Omars engine mount modification seems to be very good I recon that along with soem polyrubber would make it realy tight along...
There little difference the 182 has a different intake and exhaust manifold but its not a huge difference. The ECU map were chnaged but just to up the fueling to compexsate for the better breathering etc the intake and exhaust manifold give. Also the cat is bigger so less restriction there...
You cannot get a cheap 4 pot setup I'm looking into it now though. The disk are fine though its the calipers and pads which are the issue.
Brembo disk have wear indicators on them which is good and beter pads do wonders.
Brembo kit is very expensive something like £1.2k.
Best idea on the relitive cheap is to change all the fluid for some decient stuff fully bleed the setup and go to harder pads DS2500 are supposed to be very good but they are hard on disks and can wear quick.
Normal setup with Renault pads...
Most race preperation or racing companies will do it. Mark at richspeed does it for somehting like £150 although that assumes the cars not got any 9interier as that has to be removed to get the cage in in a reasonble time. I'd be tempted to do it yourself and just get someone to weld it in.
It should be 300rpm before the limiter its just a warning that your getting close to the limiter nothing to do with optimum shifts etc. Some 182/172's doesn't seem to have it I'd think its just the wiring or a broken bulb as they all should have it.
There has been no proven extra Hp gains from 98 octane the engine doesn't knock so it doesn't need it. However some people have said the engine is more economical and it idles better.
I crashed my dci during the first year insurance period but had 1 yrs of NCB from another policy I could use. I ended up paying £850 at 21. Best have a look on a few websites though if you don't ant to keep doing checks on your own name make up a name and use your neightbours address for quotes...
The 172 rear bumper fits fine. Its the front one which means you ned to use 172 arches and assuming your keeping the arch liners 172 arch liner. Total list cost of parts is something like £2k without painting last time I checked.
The 182 is a good track day car I'd be tempted to use the 182 for track days/ a cheap 172 etc and get more expensive day to day car.
The Nova 2.0 idea sounds good a 2.0 turbo would be more fun. My mates still trying to convince me to let him build me one.
I fitted it myself and am going to get my mate to weld all 6 point in and I'll bolt it unmyself and drill the holes. I'd guess its about £50 he'll want for the welding.
I installed it and got it in myself its a bit of a pain and even though my cars stripped out its still a tight fit to get it...
The one in my car needs the two brackets welding onto the floor just behind the door pillar I think(it looks that way and there no instructions) the other 4 points need drilling and bolting with the supplied bolts.
Mine looks like the one on the left of this picture...
Safety devices do one. I've got one in my car at the moment. It takes a whilse to fit though its a right pain. its only 6 point though. Mark @ Richspeed has a full multipoint cage in his car which makes it able to join almost any race although you don't need it for most race series.
I wouldn't bother with a new 16V box I'd get a Williams box which is stronger £450 from Renault if you ask about. Second hand 16V boxes are cheap fitment can take some time to fit but you don't need to take the engine out. Also when you swop gearbox a lot of people also swop clutches. If you do...
Nope not that I know of you could pull the wiring on the rear door lock so it stays locked/unlocked all the time the only other option is to get a stand alone alarm/CL thingie.
Depends my Contis are best at 30~28 on the Toyos there best on the pressure evogones said maybe even higher.
I assume were on about cold pressures? Not for track day work etc.
