saw a Monaco MK2 172 thismorning at the lights near the gyle centre was low with 16v badges on the rear pillars behind back side windows.
then saw a mars red mk2 v6 on the d/c going up towards east craigs (just up the road from where i spoted 172!) this was tonight, was dark and you just had...
ive heard the mk2 k-tec stealth sounds horrible although ive never heard one in real life.
theres a video on you tube if you search "gdi stealth" of it on a cup and it sounds really nice! its what ill be getting
Sounds to me like an Upstream O2 Sensor (Lambda) mine used to chug chug chug and hit 3k rpm then just stop reving for 5 seconds or so then start pulling again. but then once it warmed up after a couple of minutes it was fine!
not many 8v's going about in the ph2, most are hte 75bhp 16v.
the 16v's are acceptable to drive even when coming from the 172 because it gets its power higher in the rev range so gives a bit of fun where the 8v get the power (or lack of it) low down in the revs and dont seem to gain anything...
you cant go -60 on springs, lowest you can take it on springs is -40mm and it will be a harsh crashy ride.
coilovers are an option but also still a bit harsher depending on what yo go for.
eibach sportinlines will drop it 25mm or so and wont make the ride much harsher, just stiffen it slightly
thats dealers for you, my cars still under warranty but instead i just pay for repairs and do them myself as its been in twice and both times fucked up, my centre section fell off and i dropped it off to get sorted, they just pasted it back up and it fell off again on the way home, went back in...
im used to it and dont notice it, only time i notice a difference is when driving a dynamique it feels like a driving game on the PS2 with a steeringwheel, no feedback or anthing lol
no such thing, they are gas pressurized, maby your car is special and as long as your happy with it thats all that matters, all im saying is i thought my apex suspension car was the muts nuts too untill i tried something else.
and yep a car with a PI setup can be even better than a coilovered...
my mates got a GTT with stainless exhaust and filter no other mods and untill 70-80mph there isnt much in it at all between it and my 172, i just pull slowly, after 80mph though its bye bye! and the starlet doesnt handle anywhere near as well and its on TRD Springs and uprated dampers.
could be doing with the new apex -1metre suspension kit only availible for the mk3 ;)
only kidding mate, looks nice, DynS looks good with the wider wings on it, id just drop it on its arse and leave it at that :)
i thought my apex was the muts nuts too, untill i tried coilovers, which were 10x better than the highly recomended apex kit, BUT wern't that much better than the standard setup on a 172 on most roads!
it goes to show that the majority of cheap suspension kits have had hardly any money or time...
mine whistled got louder, was the welds in the exhaust going, 2 weeks later centre section fell off lol
they changed it under warranty 6 months later whistling again, and guess whats about to fall off again!!! ordering a GDI system this month lol
just as pointless in a 172/182 in my opinion, top speed does nothing for me, infact my 172 only does 25mph more than my 1.2 did as it hits the limiter in 5th!
they arnt really designed for top speed
thrashing it or not is regardless, the dampers are poorly made/designed you can drive it as slow or as fast as you want, fucked dampers are dangerous and an MOT failure!
ok they may come with a warranty but id much rather get FK's and leave them fitted than the hastle of removing them and...
I swear by F1's, tried a few others but always ended up back to F1's
i find ContiSport Contacts VERY under rated however, i was very impressed by them, especially in the wet!
yep exactly the majority of 172/182 owners tend to think its a completely different car and the 172/182 was a complete redesign! but the majority of us who have owned them all know they are VERY similar.
my 172 feels just like my 1.2 would have with 170bhp! apart from the slightly heavyer...
if well set up, down a twisty backroad they WILL keep with a 172/182 no problem, i proved it plenty of times.
as soon as straights are envolved they dont stand a chance (obviously)
my 1.2 was cheap to run cheap to insure cheap to tax etc and after over £1500 of chassis mods it was brilliant...
