I did about 30k in my 172 Cup in the space of 18 months and it needed very little in that time. The only things I can think of outside routine servicing was rear shocks and injectors, which cost pennies. Bare in mind the car was on over 100k when I started too.
It's just pure luck with used...
Never seen the appeal of these myself.
I'm sure they're an ok drive but they just look awful I think. It's just a blob. The Clio might be a bit more flimsy (ok a lot more) but it has bags of character and is a really nicely proportioned little car. The Civic still feels tinny and cheap inside I...
It's amazing that, given how awful the cooking model Meganes looked, just how brilliant these can look with a few subtle tweaks.
Looks excellent in red too.
Might as well put one of my current RS2000s in here as other people have. Not really finished yet but getting there:
Build there here: http://www.cliosport.net/threads/escort-rs2000-rally-car.788631/
Looking good.
Will try and pop along to Snetterton for a look. My car should have been ready for that, but I've really not pulled my finger out over winter!
Yeah it is mad really.
My friend just bought a cooking '99 1.7 in black for a track car. It's done 50k, has full service history, the guy had owned it for 15 years....£300 lol. If I was building a track Puma, I would definitely not start with a Racing.
I put Cossie brakes on a 1.4 Orion once. It was hilarious, it stopped so well. I don't know why you wouldn't want better brakes, they can never be too good.
If you want to modify your car, do it. It's not a waste of money if it brings you enjoyment.
Yes I know what you mean. As well as a couple of RS2000s, I've also had two MK6 Escorts with 2.0 Zetecs in and they are just not the same at all. A friend of mine had a 2.0 Zetec MK6 with about 160bhp and although it was probably just as fast as an RS2000, it just didn't have the character of...
Love the RS2000s @theburns1
I've owned two road cars and have two rally ones now. I think the Clio is the only car I've owned that has come close to sounding as rough and angry as an RS2000 with decent exhaust/induction on it. They get a lot of stick from people, but I think they are really...
Thanks bud, that's great. I will do a bit more research and see if it's suitable. The difficulty with my car is that I will be putting more strain on the electrical systems with spotlights etc so I do need to be careful.
That's a pretty cool little thing, bet it's a lot of fun.
Saying that, I don't think I would do it to a genuine FRP. If I was building a lairy one, I would start with a cooking shell and fit the S1600 panels instead, as they're even madder.
I do love an old car. 80s/90s hot hatches really were the coolest!
Couple of my old cars first.
Escort 1.6S (RS2000 rep apart from the bonnet):
I know it's a saloon, but it was retro and awesome. Orion 1600E:
Some random ones...

Looks absolutely brilliant Mark. You need to get some proper pictures, bonnet open, all that jazz.
You also need to take me out for a spin in it when it's done!
