got a ph1 in for sorting an epic haemoraging oil leak, was coming from everywhere including the head gasket, so pulled it apart
that'll be a non sport engine in your 172 then. (172 piston in picture for comparison) Closer inspection revealed it's a non CNC ported head with small exhaust...
you have to stop insurance on that car if you've sold it, it's illegal for it to be insured twice, and I presume the new owner will have it covered. As above, they should put cover it on hold for you
think that was a 1.4 on bike bodies.
I'm a fan of the F3P, under rated engine and neglected car tuning wise is the RSI. I wouldn't go for the volvo turbo lump myself, it's hardly a big jump forward in power for the work involved. You'll be needing a mappable ignition ECU to go with those carbs ;)
pretty shite with that headbolt, I had a DCI do something similar a while back which I put down to the halfords socket having a strange shape so points are not in contact all the way down.
you need to hold the pulleys with more than just the cam location horseshoe (belt tension is actually enough) or you're risking damaging the slots in the cams. They're not meant to be load bearing at all.
you'll need this tool to hold the pulleys still.
I have an old one spare that you...
if you're stripping it, just wrap the old belt round the pulley and twist it tight then hold it tight while you undo the bolt and nut. put the pistons at half stroke to avoid bent valves
if you need new mounts, and are prepared for a little idle vibration then they're a very good mod. upgraded dogbone is one of the best things you can do to a clio
happens to literally everything if used very hard. I've seen examples of pretty much any pad you can think of breaking up, but if you look at the number sold, there are many many worse pads than these. I've had EBC pads break up and fall out of the cailper twice while I've been driving.
something like this. They sell them in Halfords

tricky. linkages are very non flexible for adaptive use on other cars, but they are OEM quality parts so maybe worth the work. Toyota 20v stuff is a better bet
pulsar injectors would be useless, they're low impedence
if you want budget, then one of the Canems ECU's i sell to use on Mk1's would do you better than MS by a long way. Laine has one on his F4R's mk1 with throttle bodies and he removed VEMS (megasquirt based) as it was constant grief
I ran in my 200sx at 120.....on my own private replica of the A1. It made 294.1bhp a week later ;) Still holds the power record for an s13 on standard injectors and AFM (by 0.5bhp) :D
standard management route is shite, the well known one was converted to DTA management when it was sold as it was crap to drive except at full throttle
this took 30 seconds to find using the search ;)

my 2p worth, if you want to do this (I can see the appeal of a DIY build) do bike bodies rather than carbs. You'll have to do something about enigne management anyway to run the ignition, so don't undo 20 years of technology and get rid of the fuel injection
I f**king hate getting those gaskets off, aweful job. I've got a variety of long handled scrapers and blade holders and it's still crap to get to everything.
