it's really simple, i put one together today
the small blue bracket bolts near the top of the block and is the pivot for the alternator. the large bracket needs the PAS pump bolting to it AFTER fitting the bracket to the block.
took everything down when the VAT change happened. Site's being re-done, so a lot of work to change every price in the short term. Best to give us a call during the day at the moment :)
just give them a good clean up to make sure there's no loose bits of swarf or similar. should be fine unless it went badly enough to cause a crack, but i doubt it will have.
recon it's 99% there. Stalled at a junction and it got a bit rich when left to idle so probably the lambda sensor not getting hot enough, and maybe a touch more static idle on the throttle body screw needed. Be a piece of piss to prove what it's doing with a diagnostic port :(
I used a bolt for it the other day (M7 i think). it's not that critical, just makes assembly easier. As already said, the tensioner is the most complicated part of the job, but a mirror makes it doable on your own.
I've had them crumble in my own cars twice, and actually fall out the caliper once. No EBC product goes near my cars now. Reds did get massively better about 2 years ago, but still....
mintex 1144s (our favoured road compound) come with adhesive backings. I prefer this and a small dab of grease just on the sliding contact points (edge of pad on single pot, slider pin on 4-pot)
with 422s or 423s you need stronger valve springs and larger cut-outs in the piston crown
with standard compression and on standard/re-flashed ECU I'd recommend CAT 428s. you will NEED to have the ECU re-mapped to suit whatever you do
exactly
420s are just brand new standard cams made to the best spec within standard tollerence. Piper do the same thing IIRC for the 205 gti for stock hatch
Catcams are better from the perspective of being able to choose appropriate profiles for the application. Dont like shrick, mostly because of the extended alignment slot in the exhaust cam. (I showed you one that had moved I think)
disagree pipers put more strain on anything, they just tap...
well worth it when you have a high torque setup (boosted). I've driven turbo clios with and without and it makes a huge difference. Not convinced of the benefits when you're still NA, it's not an area I've personally been left wanting
