It depends entirely on the gearbox type mate. If its a JB1 then no chance as they don't have the internal diameter/clearance. If its a JB/JD then yes but you're gonna have to change the flywheel and by doing so you're going to increase the overall spinning mass to as the flywheel weighs much...
That's because the clutch is smaller than your average dinner plate on a 1.2 and depending on age may even be a concentric setup which are mega light anyway.
Steve,
Are you sure the rear brake assembly has been refitted correctly? The rear bearing units require the main bolt to be torqued up correctly or else the bearing dies. Also, are the pads fitted/seated correctly as it sounds like the heat build up is by the brake pads not being fitted...
Clean the TB - normally a straight forward job but not on the 1.2 16v in the Clio II as its inside the inlet manifold so you're gonna have to remove the lot and there are some very fragile plugs inside it so be careful.
Oh and there is no IACV as the motorised TB performs this function.

I had this on a customers scenic once before but that only seemed to do it in the wet.
In the end we replaced the servo unit and that seemed to fix it (we've not had the car back so it's either fixed or the customer crashed).
Firstly have the wheels off and make sure the callipers aren't...
Depends on the gearbox and flywheel fitted but the main question is why? I know you said it feels vague but seriously... It's a 1.2!!!
Fit a new unit for the car and just don't waste any cash on trying to make it something it's not.

You'd need to speak to a local Renault dealer about prices as we get a discount for buying in bulk so what I pay isn't what you'll pay.
Regards branding Renault don't make them as as always the tensioner is a Littens unit, the belt is Gates and the idlers are BRS and INA.

For information purposes really for those that care:-
I've just received my latest weekly batch of F4R timing belt kits from Renault UK and once again those sneaky French buggers have made changes!
No obvious changes to the belt or tensioner unit but now the rear (grooved) idler has gone to...
What?!? Liam came with his 197 from Germany!
You will have to make a decision though before the clock runs out and it doesn't matter who you take it to as long as you take it somewhere.
So all these places have seen it but have been unable to make an actual diagnosis?
A rear is unlikely to have an adverse effect upon steering but it could be a sticking brake pad or a bush, ball joint or other. Really needs looking at properly to be safe.
Mick
Would need it plugging in really Steph but sounds to me like a crank sensor issue... But without seeing the live data it could also be something else. Did they really replace the ECU? LoL

What I really love about it is that this dish is priced at £9.99 each and it makes everything else on the menu look like a rip-off.
The wife works alternate weeks and it's in the evenings. Who's managing the dates because I really want to come to this meat.
