The other end connects up to the acoustic valve which has obviously been removed.
I would buy a pipe connector (metal sleeve the id of the OE feed) and add an extra piece to go down to the foglight area/grille.
I think if your CAF is zip tied nice and snugly up to the inlet on the botom of the OE airbox it should do it's job.
For a more permanent solution I would probably buy a new CAF which fits the airbox outlet properly though.

You definately don't want her to go through her insurance but it may cost more than you think....someone went into the back of my clio a couple of weeks ago not very hard and it creased the floorpan!

I have seen Solidworks being used and it looks pretty good.
I'd probably use Rhino for the modelling myself as it's pretty easy to use and some of the plug-ins are good.
