well it's not terribly wrong, but being a 0w40 could explain your oil consumption as that is going to be very thin when cold. IMO Mobil 1 also has a disposition to being burned off anyway. Get some 5w40 and see how you get on
Not something I'd want to write a guide for really. A big job that you should approach with a good manual (renault genuine one ideally) and an ability to diagnose the fault once it's apart a,d react to findings.
you can't do it without timing tools as the head has to come off. You will also...
well your particular exhaust seems to be the most difficult to get sealed. Angle of the flare has been wrong on all the ones i've seen, and also not a big enough flare so the clamp doesn't have much of a chance really
ebay item is cheap and nasty. Don't bother
Swapping to the 182 manifold makes a difference to the midrange, but the work involved makes it touch and go whether it's worth it. I did mine becuase the engine was out. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise. The 172 manifold is still pretty damn good
I've done a few where they've split and cracked on the join. Tapering down to a smaller outlet is one thing for a venturi, but the olive joint is crap no matter how you look at it
completely different. Depends what you want from an exhaust. If you want near standard sounding then the Janspeed is the one. I fitted one today.
If you want a performance system I would always go for the Piper.
Doesn't make much difference. Ph1 head is easiest to start with as you have larger exhaust ports, but nothing you couldn't replicate on a ph2/182 head (as I've done a number of times)
Nothing else that makes any difference is different. Someone pointed out the cranks have a couple of versions...
