looking at an Alfa 156 that seems to have a mismatched mix like this in it, the header tank is FULL of gunge, and the stat never closes so it never gets warm. Owner's got headgasket paranoia, but I think with a really good fluch out he'll be lucky
You might be interested in the Canems system we sell/fit. It's essentially a system I found when looking for something suitable for mk1's as they dont need the more advanced integrated electronics (dash lights etc) that mk2's need...

I can't see a reason for using anything but 438s on anything with stock internals. They're quite frankly brilliant

Cheers for the drive Josh :p seriously fast car, so well executed. Rather disproves some opinions on the gt2871 that's for sure

Was an interesting find to say the least!!
Luckiest escape I've ever seen from an aux belt thats stripped a rib off each side and not tangled the bottom pulley up
Re: Is Dephaser fail directly related to wrong Oil type or car not serviced at interv
there's a separate section in the service book for cambelt and aux belt stamps
with a mk1 alternator you need to add an exciter wire to switch on the regulator. just add an ignition live. I've got to do the same for mine, been meaning to work out which terminal need the live so i'll hook up a test on the bench tomorrow if i remember
in reality they're more like 185bhp as standard, although i've heard of a few touching 190 recently which i suspect is the engines loosening up.
They do respond quite well to remapping, but a decat will actually usually cause worse running without a custom map
