Evening all
I agreed to buy some wheels back in January from a guy in Ipswich who backed out when he found out the postage costs and still hasn't sent my money back.
The wheels are 15" valver/19 speedline jobs with used 195/50/15 yokohamas on them. I agreed to pay £40 plus £30 postage...
Ding. Brembo HCs, braided lines, DoT5.1 and DS2500s work well for me.
Chris - I'm off to the ring for three days at the end of April. First time there so I won't be going too hard but it sounds like spare pads are needed! How many sets do you reckon?
.....are bloody good. The cooked knackered OMP 971 pads which I took off were cheap but only lasted one trackday and about 2000 miles. DS2500s have much more bite and should cope with track days better.
That is all.
Evening all
In the last week or two I've acquired a creaking noise from my rear end at low speeds.
My car is a 172 cup. I've heard the rear dampers are a weak spot but they aren't leaking.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Tom.
I live just off Forest Rd in Lboro so you'll see me around. Only moved here a few months ago. Standard spec silver cup, usually pretty grubby and heading to/from Nottingham or Birmingham.
Give me a wave!
Sounds good - just jack up the car, undo the old bone, bolt on the new one with no need for any support for the engine? Might do it at the same time as the pads at that rate.
Aux belt isn't actually going to damage anything if it breaks AFAIK, you'll just fail to proceed. I was in a similar situation and just got the belt carefully checked instead. It was fine, so I'll just get it done next time if it needs it.
I've got a new dogbone for my 172 and now it just needs fitting. Is it easy enough to do as a DIY job in half a day, or should I just get someone else to do it?
Cheers
Tom.
I googled for the Colways and got that price but can't find it again now! I'll look again but they seem to get mixed reviews from people who reckon they're a rally stage tyre so they melt too quickly on track. Maxsport RB5 are quite cheap - about £45 plus VAT from demon thieves so it should be...
OK - I now have two sets of wheels:
16" for road and wet track use. I've got Toyo T1-Rs on these.
15" for track use, but need to be road legal so I can get to/from the track
I'm looking for tyre suggestions for the 15" set. Ideally I'd like to get some cheapo track tyres like maxsport...
I guess these should fit OK, but what is the offset of the older wheels? Will I need to use spacers or anything to get a similar offset to the Turinis? If so, where would I get the spacers?
Thanks as always
Tom.
