maybe its to start/stop rattles in renaults ? maybe like tration control its switched on by default and this button will turn off the standard fit "Rattles" ???
Is it REALLY, I have been having this noise too, it stops me from putting my foot down in 1st, it was a bit scary the noise, I will pay a visit to Renault..
It starts to spin, then a millisecond after you get the knocking noise.. phew what a relief to know its not a Renault "Standard Feature".

a good way to test shocks,
go the the corner of the car that you think has a faulty shock, depress that corner with all your weight then release quickly, if the car bounces up and down a bit before settling down then shock is knackerd, if it comes up at okay speed and settles quickly then its...
putting it in first gear, pressing the accelerator and releasing the clutch.
If you dont start moving forward, I would say your gearbox is pretty knackered... cause all the teeth have worn down. ;) :D :p
Its not that inaccurate, wind chill only really affects humans/animals etc and does not have as much an affect on the sensor.
We as humans are warm blooded, create heat etc, wind removes the heat from our bodies therby causing wind chill.
Its different for inanimate objects, because they...
when you are driving back into your neighborhood turn to music down, just so no-one actually knows you got a nice system.
Plus it keeps your neighbours happy

1.6mm is the legal limit!? are you sure its not more than that?
infact, the legal limit used to be less than 1.6, but was changed. I think it used to be 1.3 or 1.2 mm
hehe, no dont cut it off, it is exactly what gritter99 said, the outside temp sensor.
What I am wondering if someone knocks off your mirror on that side how much would it cost for a new one, what with electric motors and outside temp modules etc.
my 172 is brill in the cold weather so far, *crosses fingers*
It starts no probs, and the ECU takes it up to 1250rpm, then after its warmed a bit it drops it back down to 750rpm. Its weird though, it idles fine and doesnt misfire, but if you listen to the exhaust at the back its sounds like...
Well, Its gotta be said the 172 has the best traction in the wet of all the cars I have driven in the past, in the dry its on par with my 205 GTi, in the wet my 172 is better.
If it was fitted as standard to mine then great, but I dont think I will be forking out 1000+ quid for something that...

What would you do if you wanted it fitted to a 2002 172 that doesnt have it ? go to a Renault dealer and ask it to be fitted for £750 ?
Just curious thats all ..
