    An 04 plate one should 100% have cruise on it as long as it hadn't been kept for a bit then registered. Most made after nov 03 or so will have cruise.

    You'd have a chance it may have ESP if it was a 52 plate, otherwise will just be normal FF spec xenons etc will be there yes. The only options were sat nav and telephone prep.

    First one could be TPS? Second one looks like the VVT soleniod plug but has a few others with it on a Ph2. Third pass.

    ESP came in on a 52 plate, Cruise/Speed Limiter came in on late 53 plates.

    If you haven't seen a slot 1 chip before you haven't been playing with the things for that long then, i'm only 21 and can fully remember slot 1 fun. Didn't the first/early pentium chip have a design flaw in it somewhere? Seem to remember something along those lines.

    I've never had a problem getting hold of some they should easily have some in stock, they cost about 20p last I remember. Try a different dealers.

    Those were ET37 so brought the track out 20mm or so, filled the arches perfectly imo barring it being a bit too high.

    Its the electric fault warning light, could guess away for hours but basically needs the fault code reading to say whats wrong.

    Would most likely be the waterpump on a 1.2 they should be changed with the cambelt as they leak for fun. The design is piss poor iirc.

    Stick to 70 on the cruise and i'll piss that in 1 tank, managed a 430 mile record in my 172 going to centre parks and back. Managed to get it up to 42mpg.

    It won't let the engine come free if you've only undone the engine bolts, otherwise your just jacking the engine up into the mount. And while that top bolt doesn't deal with the tensioner or the idler it does hold the top brace off the top of the alternator...

    Nope Its easy to retrofit things to VAG stuff, most of the time you just fit the part as the loom is already there and enable the function with VAGCOM.

    Auxiliary belt woes...

    The tensioner and idler should be changed with the belt. If its rubbing against it the bearing in the tensioner can't be too healthy.

    For all intents and purposes it can't be done, you'd need a complete new dash look, the wheel switches and associated loom, later new ecu and later new uch to add the cruise functions.

    Never really found the 172 brilliant for long journeys tbh, used to be quite tiring I thought wasn't bad just wasn't brilliant. The 225 is far better just for the fact that its a lot quieter at 70 and its got an armrest!

    Cranked spanners would be my weapon of choice, can't remember it exactly from when I did the cambelt on the 172. Probably make it a whole lot easier to unbolt the left mount and the dogbone and jack the engine up to give you access to the bolt. b*****d may be if/when the aux belt tension pulls...

    oil filter washer thingy?

    Unless he's thinking about the sealing o-rings on the filter housing? Although all the ones I bought from renault when I had my 1.2 always came complete with filter in a new housing rather than just the paper insert.

    The problem arises from the bolt that bolts through from the aux mounting brackets that threads into the lower inlet. The mount can stay put I think afaik, can't remember now.
