Whats the general consensis on this ?
Went for some oil this morning and the only 5w40 I could find was their own brand stuff, seem to remember reading somewhere that its about the lowest quality of oil you could sell but I can't remember where so might have imagined it.
Didn't get any but was...
Shouldn't make that much difference, i've just put 10w40 in mine this morning as the only 5w40 I could find was halfraulds own and I needed some, had 5w30 in it before and that was what I always put in my 1.2.
Its not a F1 engine at the end of the day, it won't make any difference.
Never hit it in my car, just feels naughty. The last courtesy car I had got plenty of limiter action though, the limiter on the 1.2 16v sounds really crappy though.
Its just there to vapourise the fuel better when its starting under cold conditions as has been said above.
Most carbed cars have them, though I thought all the 1.4 energy lumps were fuel injected ?
Unfortunatly as its 3yr 2month old its covered under the extended warrenty which doesn't cover a) Worn or burnt out clutch's (although its technically neither worn or burnt out) and b) Oil leaks (though its not the normal kind of oil leak either).
Rang Renault as soon as I found that the seal...
Clutch started slipping last week if you put ANY pressure on the clutch pedal and I mean if you even tapped it it slipped.
Wasn't going to do anything about it until it started properly slipping and on wednesday it did :dapprove:, took a 100 mile run to doncaster and that seemed to finish it...
I'm looking to paint my calipers silver just because I fancy it really, only problem is that i'm not 100% which paint to use.
Went and had a look down the local halfrauds and they've got hammerite silver smooth which I think people have used previously and their own caliper paint which is about...
I did it once with my old 1.2 when I was bored, lost the rear seats and spare wheel and toolkit.
You could definetly feel the weight that'd been lost, I never noticed the back end being skitchy but I never really went over any rough roads.
Roads i'd been down before that made the backend...
Yep, just stab something through. I used my pen knife and waggled it around to open the hole up a bit, then it took me 30 mins of fighting to get it through. Should be easier with 8awg though.
I swear it didn't sound that fruity in my head when I wrote it, but then my heads probably used to it...
Think it needs a new loom because the cover has chaffed through the wiring, hope its under warrenty because it won't be cheap.
Not 100% on this but I think its the case.
Lying in the passenger footwell look up and you'll see the grommet with the bonnet release cable coming through.
Punch a hole in this and shove the cable through the hole you've just made, then with the coolant reservior removed get your hand behind the sound proofing and reach for the cable...
Power cable will go through the bonnet release grommet up to a certain size, I've managed 4awg through it.
A tip would be to lube it up with fairy liquid because its tight as a ducks arse, will help it slide through easier. Once you've got enough to get a good hand hold of on the engine side...
I've looked it up on yell and I think i'll take a trip down the A5 to see what he says, its good to hear from experience too as thats the sort of price i'd expected and if the works good quality then that'll do me fine.
Yep, that was pretty much the feeling I got when I was given the all waffle hence why I walked away with an i'll get back to you.
Plasticisers were one of the things mentioned, I was just a little surprised when the cost was going to be £300+ for just the sidestrips and bumpers when i'm sure...
Well for the £300ish its warrentied for 5 years and they apparently prep it with a million and one things so it won't flake. So may be worth it in the long run.
Would be better if I could find some 172 sidestrips but I've been looking for ages and i've never found any.
I've had stuff done by her before am the work seems ok by me, it was 100% happy with the door handles I had done.
I can understand the cheapest quote thing though as you get what you pay for, but not matter how good the work is £300-£400 is waay too much for just side strips and bumper inserts...
