The way I was thinking it was:
169 standard + 2 for airbox and panel + 4 for the exhaust + 10 for the map = 185bhp
Then a decat which would maybe add another 3-4.
I think my next mod may be a space saver wheel to lose some weight. Not sure what else I could strip out though without removing...
So with the exhaust and panle filter I'm looking at about 175bhp.
The exhaust, panel filter and decat about 180bhp?
The exhaust, panel filter, decat and remap between 185bhp and 190bhp?
Not far from the magical 200 mark.
I have a mk2 172 with a PiperX panel filter, uprated air feed (including removal of acoustic valve), custom stainless exhaust with small middle silencer and a remap.
Disregarding the remap, what sort of BHP figure would I be looking at with the filter and exhaust setup?
What would a decat give...
Same as mine:

Not got a spare copy but I've got a 2001 copy for my Clio. A friend bought it for my B'day. I reckon, come sale time, the brochure, Cliosport membership etc. will aid sale price as it is proof of enthusiast ownership.
Good read as well.
You off your trolley mate? Whenever I am in my GF's car, she loses all self control and drives on instruction. She is so used to me telling her what to do having taught her before she past her test that she just stops using her brain. She just pulls onto roundabouts etc. because I haven't...
I'll see what sort of prices they are.
Just need to know what sort of design I should ask him to look at as it will need to have a screw cap.
What sort of diameter is the crankcase breather?
I'm getting a straight through silicone inlet elbow made up for my mk2 172 without a plug for the crank case breather.
I have 2 choices with the breather pipe. I can run a length of pipe along the underside of the car and vent it to the atmosphere. (Plan B)
Get a friend of my brothers to...
Any news on the RR John? I've text Paul but he's not been back to me yet.
I had a look under the bonnet tonight and noticed that the oil breather pipe which runs to the inlet elbow was actually off on the block end.
I refitted this and took the car out and it is amazing.
It pulls like a...
To be fair Matt, I wouldn't bother, the colour match is s**t even when left upside down over night, left in a mug of boiling water for 5 mins then shaken like a b**ch. It just looks poo.
My next mod after the rolling road session is a decat, even though it will be stupidly loud. I'm hoping with my exhaust, panel filter and airbox mod alongside the remap I will achieve 185bhp with 190bhp after a decat, though the RR session will give me a much better indication as to what I will...
It's not a Cup John as I have leather etc but it is 2002 51 plate. I think it may also be an import so that may play a part.
I terms of the redline, I initially thought it was set at 7250 but having driven home, I believe it may now be 7500 - I prefer it this way as I can't blow it up LOL...
So my current setup will be fine without the need for the second feed being altered?
I think I may try and fit a scoop behind the grille to redirect a little more air in to the feed.
Evening boys and girls. Just got on after having the car done.
Paul and I went out for a quick spin after the map was loaded. We had the air con on and there were 2 of us in and the car was noticeably quicker than standard, 1 up with no air con.
On my way home, no air con and on my own, I...
I've still got the standard box with a PiperX panel so I guess I'm not too far away from your setup. I couldn't justify the outlay for a Viper etc. as they need a good feed for any real gains and I don't think they will provide much more than a well modded box.
I definately think the removal...
So theoretically I could buy a phase 1 decat for my phase 2 172 and just not plug the 2nd Lambda in?
Would a custom pipe be cheaper than an off the shelf?
That sounds like it could be it then mate. Try www.migweb.co.uk though as it is a wealth of knowledge.
To be honest though, I think all Ecotecs are designed to sound a bit wrong. My Ecotec Chavalier loves to whine, not sure if it is the flywheel or power steering pump but it has always done...
Having thought about it, I don't think the position of the standard feed behind the light is that bad, it just needs an extra something to guide the air into the inlet.
Might have to have a look on Tweeks.
I think the Hillpower feed will have a similar effect to my feed as it is angled forwards and feeds from under the car.
It must be possible to get a feed to the bumper, look at Eves beast:
I just wouldn't want to cut into the bumper, I would leave mine sat behind the grille for a subtle...
With my old man having brought me 7' of 70mm bore ducting home for my air box last night, I got stuck in tonight.
After muchos messing, re-routing bits of loom, re-jigging the horn and the removal of the acoustic valve/20mph valve, I was left with this:
I was quite suprised at how well the...
Is it an Ecotec 2.0 16v? If so, they are prone to snapped exhaust manifold bolts, normally the one on the left hand side by the cambelt cover. They have also been known to crack the manifold itself.
