He made three attempts to undertake, and I prevented the first two by flooring it which seemed to totally enrage him and the final one was after I decided it was getting a bit risky and that Id rather spend some time hanging off his bumper :devilish:. Dont think Id have got past though. 2 miles...
Just on my way to Tesco (via the scenic route!) when I got to some traffic lights where 1 lane expands into 2. I set off and moved into the right hand lane, and this Ford Galaxy that was behind me floored it and tried to undertake me. This pissed me off so I floored it too (yeah, slapped wrists...
I had a brief skirmish with a brand new 330 last night. The guy was being a bit of a prick though, and kept switching lanes to try and get away, so I gave up in the end. However, at speeds from 30 to 70 mph he wasnt getting away from me :) Although, to be fair I had one passenger but he had...
Until I pay off the finance, the finance company own the car and are selling it to me, hence they are deemed jointly liable under the consumer credit act with the car dealer who had to sign a statement saying the goods were in a "sellable" condition. They are the dealers finance company, but I...
Ive posted about the problems that I had with my Williams since buying it, and today I finally got a resolution. The biggest problem was the locking wheel nuts being jammed on and the "keys" being broken. The dealer seemed to accept no responsibility for this, so I phoned Trading Standards and...
scott - my 172 was barely run in by 12000 miles (when I sold it :(), every 1000 miles the engine felt looser and the car felt faster. I even got whooped from some traffic lights by an......argggh.....XR2!!!! That was when I had about 1500 miles on it. Dont worry.......it will loosen up. Until...
swelchs advise is good. I did exactly the same to my 172 after feeling that it was a bit lacking. Used a shedload of petrol but after a couple of weeks the car definitely seemed quicker.
Surely that altitude and petrol has more to do with the car not being that quick than anything else. I think you need a car with forced induction.
I wonder if nitrous would help even things up a bit? Itd give your engine that bit more oxygen.

Get a de-cat to start off with. You can run it for three years before having to pop the cat back on for the MOT, its dead cheap to do and it should make a noticeable difference.....

16.5 seconds for the Williams?! What gear was the guy starting in?!?! Chalk another one up to the Saxo VTS though!

PS: When is the next Santa Pod or York RWYB? Ill come along and have a go provided the issue with my wheels has been sorted by then.
Excellent 100mph time. Im sure that my Willy feels quicker from 60 to 100mph than my 172. Possibly a gearing thing with the Willys shorter gearing maybe...?
You can get the extra handling (well, most of it) by putting a set of 30mm lowering springs on your 172. I did it to mine and it improved the handling more than I can put into words. Only cost £140 including fitting to do and Id recommend it to any 172 owner.

Anyone reckon that the low temperatures might have had a bearing on the power outputs? I know that my car is a full seconds quicker from 40-70mph when it is 0 centigrade compared to when it is 10 centigrade. Just wondering as the 172s seem to be putting out very high figures?!
This is going to be held in Chesterfield......there must be some of you southerners who want to come up.....its not that far for Leicester/Notts/Derby etc.
