Presumably, your warranty is good for about another 18000miles (til 60k obviously), or 10/06...there IS a sliding scale on the cover on some parts but it tends to affect parts subject to wear more than electrics.
Before you go off on one ask to see the ICM printout showing that there's 0%...
You don't need to do anything - it'll have the standard 3 year / 60k mile warranty regardless of whether it's an import...UNLESS it's a car intended for Cyprus. Then you only get 2 years - presumably it's exdendable though.
Some dealers WILL charge you for a non-warranty check....it's at their discretion and as explained above, there's absolutely no reason why they shouldn't. The technician who spends time checking your car and the "monkey" on the other end of the phone still has to get paid at the end of the month...
Only for cars intended for certain markets. Cars intended for Cyprus get a shorter warranty. Most others have your standard 60,000mile / 3 year manufacturer cover.
lol - well to be honest, when a ropey little clio DOES come into a dealer with a post-it note with the mileage scrawled on it stuck to the dash, we pretty much DO laugh about the owners :P
For what it's worth, Laguna drivers are almost as anal, and far worse to deal with :D
Dave3141: where are you based? Since I AM the service advisor in my place, if you're worried about how the car is treated you can bring it to us and I'll make sure it's looked after properly :)
Oh don't be so anal! lol
Most people working in dealerships are so sick of crappy renaults that they couldn't give two hoots if they have a 182 in and certainly can't be bothered to rag them around, or deal with the hassle involved if the car is damaged in any way.
Rather than walk in like...
If you can possibly afford a 1.6, avoid 1.4 scenics and meganes...the engine is weedy as hell. Nobody wants them and the resale value on it in a couple of years will be laughable.
...it is. An hours labour to take off the bumper. Unless they happen to have an apprentice with particularly small hands :P
If you're being quoted silly money you can always ask to see proof of the labour time...we use an online quoting system for most things and it's more than capable of...
£70 per hour is expensive? Which part of the country is that?
You shold try a honda dealer in the Thames Valley area.....try £80+VAT.
Or BMW...£100+ +VAT!
Expect a quote somewhere between £250 and £300ish for the 36k service.
Just to reiterate- cambelt must be done at 72k or 5 years WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.
You might only do 1000 miles in 5 years, but the belt weakens and perishes with age.
At most dealers, cambelt is roughly £300-£350.
Major service is a similar figure, hence done together, about £700.
The parts price depends on the engine variant...kits vary in price form £60+VAT to £120+VAT (ish).
Or you could just run it til it snaps and buy a new engine for £3500+...
Id actually already be a member if the facility was there at the moment...however, I try to give help from the other side of the dealership service desk where I see people on here having trouble ;)
I know where youre coming from though.
The forum I spend most time on is a Honda owners one...
The code for the locking wheel nut key is stamped on the key itself. If you dont make a note of it and you lose it, youre stuffed.
By the way - weve ordered a few and theyre ALWAYS on back order (which means up to 6 weeks before the dealer will even get a response when they chase the order)...
Itd be a huge shame to see such a huge car club disappear on account of some keyboard commandos.
Personally, I think you should raise your membership fee and make more of this huge and basically good forum accessible by members only. Harsh and perhaps a touch discriminatory, but itll lop off...
If you approach the dealer and act like a civil human being, they MAY be more likely to treat it in a sympathetic manner and sort it out for you if they can prove the damage occured when they had the car.
But dont go in with a face like thunder and an attitude - theyll just deal with it as...
They look nasty as hell.....except white stripes on pale blue. Nice french racing colours and in the flesh they dont look as barry-boyish as youd think...
To answer one or two questions in this thread:
Renault wont contact you about a technical bulletin or recall unless its a safety issue, in which case theyll get your details from the DVLA and send a letter. Smaller less significant recalls (such as subframe washers, reprogramming etc) are...
Your new engine probably will be a service exchange unit. They dont come with ancilliaries - things like the alternator do get swapped from the old engine to the replacement (unless theyre buggered too). I THINK theyre bench tested before shipping, but still need to be run in to a certain...
I dont think its available to the general public. Basically, a dealership has access to a central renault database and IT tells them what renault will and wont pay them for doing.
So if Renault say its covered, its covered. If they say its not, or its only partially covered, then thats all the...
LOL @ this thread!
Some majorly defensive replies in here, its very amusing!
All Ill say is that while Ive yet to drive a CTR of any age, Ive played with one or two 182s, and as a renault employee COULD have a new one at a discount that might almost make it financially sensible.....but Im...
