    One for the tyre experts...

I've bought a set of 5 wheels (4 x alloys 1 x steel spare) from a very nice chap on this here forum (Aaron2) and am looking to use them on my ph2 172. Currently running stock 5 spokes 195/45/16 and have bought a set of 15's (in the same style, just smaller) that have some tired looking...

Shonky insurance repairs, What can I do?

Yes, they did paint the whole bonnet! But one side looks awful as it has little pits all over it. I know it's not terrible (you wouldn't see it from a distance) but even allowing for the blown-over chips the paint finish is not nearly as good as the standard panels. I've been quite good about...

Shonky insurance repairs, What can I do?

Any insurance bods on here that can help/advise? I had a minor ding on the front of my 172, just needed a new bumper, a few plastic panels, kerbed the two front alloys and a few shallow dents removing from the front of the bonnet. So I took it to my insurance approved repairer and thought...

    Megane alloys on a 172

Have seen these alloys : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-MEGANE-SCENIC-10-SPOKE-ALLOY_W0QQitemZ250521996958QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET?hash=item3a54464e9e on a few Meganes and thought that they would look quite nice on my '02 172. It's currently got the...

    Home painted bullets, Home Baking?

I've nearly finished painting the door bullets on my 172 as they were looking a bit tired. After I've laquered them is it worth baking them in the oven? I haven't got a clue what times/temperatures bodyshop ovens run, and I'm not too keen on cleaning a great big blob of plastic from the...

    Sorry, stupid tyre question....

Boosh, I'm confused. Are you saying that PE2's or T1R's are best all round?

    Sorry, stupid tyre question....

Currently have Toyo T1r's on and they are good in the dry, but IME a bit hit and miss in the wet. I've got a Conti on the spare that seems good. So I'm looking at more Toyo's (cheap and cheerful) Conti sport 3's (a bit more and should be good) Or PE2's (yeah they're pricy, but they seem to...

    Sorry, stupid tyre question....

What tyres were fitted as standard to 172's? Am I right to think that PE2's were brought in for the 182? and is the PE2 THAT much better than whatever came before it? They are a bit pricy, but just trying to justify the extra cost really....

Help! Grille parts (crap main dealer body repairs content)

Thanks Beef, The garage are claiming that it doesn't exist, not good considering they are a Renualt dealer! Is there any way of finding part numbers on the net?

Help! Grille parts (crap main dealer body repairs content)

Hi All, Having a bit of an issue with some shonky insurance repairs after a minor front end prang. I had to remove the Grille from my 02' 172 as the grille panel was blocking the bonnet release catch. The old grille had two small plastic panels that sat behind the mesh, the one...

How bad an idea is this?

I'm steadily killing the front tyres on my 172 (195/45/16 ToyoT1R's) and I'm looking to put some PE2 Michelins on instead. I've seen threads where folks are fitting 205's instead (mostly on 182's though) do they rub? as I've always thought that the 195's look a bit stretched on and make the...

Are 15" wheels too small on a 182?

OK, so I've seen UK Clio's on 15in rims in the same design as the 16's on my (UK spec) 172, but they look to be running 185's instead of 195's. does that mean that if I try to get some 15's on the UK S/H market they'll be narrower than the same design "proper 172" 15's that the rest of the world...

Are 15" wheels too small on a 182?

Mmmm, so if the rest of the entire world has 172's with 15in rims, it's not unreasonable to assume that the car was developed on 15s and it's only us fashion-victim brits that got wheels that are too big and expensive. That ph2 172 does look right

Are 15" wheels too small on a 182?

Is there a "standard" or OE wheel 15in wheel that I could use to replace the five spokes (16'x 195x45 IIRC) that my 02' plate came with? I'm not too fussed about looks but would like too find a set of cheap rims that won't cost me the earth. I have seen very similar looking wheels on later...

    People trying to race you......

Slight thread hijack, but I've seen a lot of 2.0 16v "bullets" in the for sale section. the ones on my 172 look pretty scabby and I was considering trying to find some plain ones and taking the sport badge off the back. Is it easy to remove the bullets? and do any models just have blank bullets...

    Any cyclists on here?

Yeah, I'm thinking that 2 x six footers plus 2 x bike and kit ( one of the bikes is a 29er too) will be a bit of a squeeze, hence I'm looking at a roof system that will accomodate 3 + 3 to leave room in the boot for camping kit. P.S. I guess you need to be a fully paid-up member to see the...

    Any cyclists on here?

A mate of mine put his bike on the roof before going to our local MrClutch, it seems that the fitter didn't take the extra height into account before smashing the hell out A: The shutter door and.. Any cyclists on here?

Hi all, Apologies if I'm asking an old question (I did do a quick search, but didn't see much) But do any of you lot use your Clio to transport your push-bikes? I've just bought an 02 plate 172 and even after a few days of ownership, I'm seriously impressed, just incredible...
