Hi everyone,
Had centre section replaced and rattle was still there, ended up having cat replaced and this worked.
All under warranty of course!
stu 172.
Basically if you want creature comforts, buy the std(if thats possible)172.
If u like it without the added extras buy the cup!!
I cant see that in real world driving that it makes a mega amount of difference!!

Have used the supplying dealer in the first place, they werent any good so I started to use the new local dealer.
They do offer a collection/delivery service or courtesy car, and I know the delay on the cat is not their fault, but when they "melt" your servo pipe because they forgot to open...
I am also waiting for a new passenger side heater vent as its rattling(been on order for 3 weeks then they get the wrong one sent thru).
Also waiting for passenger side window to be security etched,( this was replaced by the dealer because they scratched the inside of it when it was new).Reno...
Wrote a thread on here a while ago to say I was thinking of changing the car for either a ctr or leon cupra r, basically because of all the hassle associated with reno and their cars.
Had middle section of the exhaust replaced(to try and cure 4k rattle), and as some of you may know they melted...
Seriously thinking about changing the clio for ctr/leon cupra r!!!
Basically getting fed up with all the little problems the 172 suffers from and the ability of the dealers to put the problems right.
From day 1, problems have been as follows:-
Laquer missing on lower panel behind doors...
Went down to the dealer this morning and saw the service manager and told him I was not happy about this pipe melting.
He said ok and took me straight to my car and explained everything to me.
The pipe hadnt actually melted but had basically shrunk, due to them listening for a slight...
Cheers for that Ben, Ive just spoken to a very good mechanic mate of mine and hes also said that this is a load of b******s .
The service manager also said that this would never happen in a normal driving situation!!
So what if iI was stuck on a motorway in the middle of summer for 30mins...
My Mrs took car in today to have new mid-section of the exhaust replaced(cure for the infamous 4k rattle).
Asked if the car could be returned by 4 oclock as she finishes work at 4.15(works only 2 mins up the rd by car).
She had heard no news by ten to 3 so phoned the dealer to see if the car...
Mine has gone in today for the mid section to be replaced, will keep you posted on whether its cured or not.
Mileometer reading just over 12k.

Just had car in for its 12000 service, running absolutely spot on. Pulled up at traffic lights on a three lane carriageway tonight and a C32 AMG Merc comes up beside me. Hes on his own, Im 2 up with pretty light fuel load.
Lights change, I get a good take-off .
Pretty level in 1st gear but...
When i had my bog std GT Turbo a std valver would not stay with it 0-60.
manufacturers figures were 0-60 7.2 and 128mph top end.
admittedly a valver would pull away between 80-100 but std 0-60 was in the low 8s and top end was approx 134mph.
Feel free to check the figures!!
At £106 per tyre someone is seriously ripping u off!!!
Last set I had fitted on the front cost me £120 all inc from Hi-Q in glos.
That was only 2 months ago
Cant say I agree telford_mike about it being a personal preference, the contis as ive said just do not grip in the wet/damp etc.
All Im looking for is a good all round tyre, and a reduced amount of wear as 5k per set of fronts is taking th p**s, and this is with my mrs driving to work and...
