Didn’t see there was replies to this as I’ve not logged in for a while. I’ve put a new pre cat lambda on it and still no change. I’ve been using only v power and Tesco’s 99 since I’ve owned the car which is 10+ years and never had an issue with either. The only thing I can think of is that the...
Wonder if anyone can shed some light on a strange little misfire I’ve got on my 182. When started from stone cold at around 1500rpm ish (with the lightest sniff on the throttle) I get a misfire when clears after maybe 30 seconds or so once the engine has a little heat in it. The misfire doesn’t...
I swapped the aerial off my wifes car this morning which fortunately fit ( I was running a cheap bee sting type aerial) and I lo and behold I have a some semblance of a radio signal again.
Were the standard Cabasse head units amplified for radio internally as well as using the roof unit? Im...
Have had utterly crap radio reception for years so I finally got round to changing the aerial base (as I thought that was the problem). As it turns out fitting a brand new one hasn’t fixed the problem at all - it’s made zero difference.
All connections are right in the back of the head unit (a...
I didn’t have a single problem with the sump bolts fortunately, thank fully this car hasn’t had monkeys working on it in the past. However I didn’t want to chance the sub frame bolts especially considering it wasn’t needed for this job.
Once the engine is jacked up high enough getting the sump...
its really not the most pleasant of jobs, remember doing one on a rover k series once and there was still a lot of oil in it even after draining it and it went all over the floor and me. Horrible.
Im hoping that doesnt happen but if it does I may just have one of those irwin grip sockets. If its small enough. Going to be a messy job, hopefully no longer than about 3 hours mind
Just want to clarify the steps when removing the sump (the method without taking the subframe off)
Drain oil
Bump and slam panel off
Offside engine unbolted from chassis and dog bone off
Jack engine up as high as possible and place block of wood under the engine mount
Undo sump bolts and...
Got a bit of a leak on the sump gasket ( ive been putting up with it for years but its got a little bit worse recently) so I intend to change it.
Whats the easiest way to get the sump removed? Ive read its recommended to remove the sub frame but I dont really fancy doing that if possible. I...
the filter medium is mainly a holder for the oil. A filter without oil wont be doing much at all. For foam filters the oil is of a thicker sticker consistency
Im not sure what size it was off the top of my head as I'd pinched it from a J&R shaft though i've actually removed it and fitted a used genuine one instead now as the J&R one would seep oil so I dont think it was a very good fit to the bearing - joke really, they cant even make a decent rubber...
The alarm on my 182 seems to have a mind of its own at the moment by going off randomly at all hours. I remember reading somewhere that you could reduce the sensitivity of the interior sensors by swapping a red and black wire around - can any one shed any light on this? I also read somewhere...
I used a pipercross when i had a foam filter fitted, not the stuff for a k&n cotton one as I had read it wasnt to wise to be using that on a foam filter for whatever reason. The foam filter oil is much thicker and stickier
I suppose I could try a jubilee with the insert so it makes a the clamp load around the full circumference but renault use the crimped clips themselves and generally dont have issues. What I find is most jubilees are too wide then they actually make the ends of the boot lip splay apart off the...
Its sealing at the box end no problem, its the seal on the little bearing that the shaft passes through and how this is clamped. I would doubt the movement in and out is anywhere near 2mm as well
Odd one from me again here
I still get occasional leaks of oil from where the boot/clip is attached the bearing on the shaft.
It can go for days with it being bone dry and I can drive the car very very hard and nothing happens, yet today I had 3 people in the car and was doing a lot of a town...
Thing is it seems quite a nice fit, even the genuine Renault one I had one before did a similar sort of thing (even if it was a bit worn on the ends)
Just out of interest when the box has the 3.1 litres of oil on it should this bearing by fully submerged in the oil or is it just splash...
Well it was dry for a short while - took it on a 60 mile round trip yesterday and checked the back of the disc on the driveshaft and there was touch of gear oil on it. My thinking is maybe I over filled the box as I did use a large diameter hose to fill the box, I opened the butterfly level nut...
Did it this evening, hardest part was removing the tank from the top of the master cylinder as there’s really not enough room from above. I did it through the arch after peeling back the arch liner, pry it off with a mini pry bar/big screw driver then use the same to push it back into the seals...
Im not too bothered about it being absolutely spotless and new looking just as long as its not covered in melted plastic and not so ropey looking. Just a drain and pry it off the MC job I'm thinking, then refit the new one, fill and bleed up.
Aye a bit but theres a reason why - the tank doesnt leak but its took a battering a few years ago when an MOT tester left an inspection lamp on manifold and its covered in melted plastic that I cant pick off
Is it just a pull off job? the one on mine is very tired and i'd like to replace it with a new one. Obviously i'll need to bleed the braking system fully afterwards.
Think mine is just grime on the back of the disc that sits in front of the bearing on the shaft which gets a bit runny when hot, I guess it’ll subside over time or if I clean it. I changed the seal/boot for a new one as the one I had on the second hand shaft, whilst it was still sealing with a...
