Not been on the forum for a while as my 1.8 16v clio is no more due to a cam belt failure back in January. Anyway i've still got the car and i'm not sure what to do with it. I have replaced it with a fiat coop so its just gathering dust at the side of the house at present.
Anyway im thinking...
Just wondering if anyone knows a good place to get a cambelt change on a 1.8 16v around dudley or even the birimgham area??
Done 50k now on the second belt and i want to get it sorted fairly soon.
Thanks mike
Need to get my belt done. 112k now and it was done at 60k last. I think too mnay people dont think about the age of the belt aswell as miles done. 5 years max so anyone with a 16v/williams should get it done if its never been changed regardless of miles. Will be 8years or more for all of em if...
get it all the time in my valver. some days its good, others it seems poop. had a lift with someone with a new vaux signum diesel - 150bhp. there were 4 of us in it and it seemed quicker than the valver.
near me at stourbridge theyve got a strech of road where they got an esso, shell and texaco within about 200 m covering all 3. petrols cheap as none of them can put the price up without losing to the others. you just take your pick. :D
williams - bigger engine, better handling setup as wider track and its more exclusive, only came in blue with gold alloys.
thats the main stuff. im sure others will fill in the rest
101k here. had camblet done at 61k but clutch, gbox steering column all original and no probs. had front discs changed on 100k. these were also original. had a lot of mway driving s its lastest pretty well. if tis a runabout and its done lots of miles will be more expensive as opposed one thats...
wheels is your biggest giveaway if standard, multi spoke turbines as opposed to cloverleaf shape. more drivers seat adjustments on ph2. badge on back is on car body on ph2 rather than clear plastic strip. different grill and minor body differences.
ok. ive had a wheel bearing going on the rear of me 16v now for the last 2 months. thing is it doesnt seem to be getting noticeably worse although i have eased off on cornering speeds when i can. when ive got the cash im replacing the rear discs and bearings in one go but i aint got the £100 i...
should say on the instructions for the cleaning kit. try a line of oil down each pleat or if its a spray - approx 1 spray along each pleat. the colour should be uniform when done. re-oil any white patches to make even
just changed the fuel filter on the 16v after hacking of the worm screws and replacing with rip ties. rusty buggers. anyway i noticed someone has put a crimp on the fuel line just after the end of the out nozzle on the filter. looks pretty tight. you reckon this is restricting fuel flow and...
what kind of mpg do you lot get with bp ultiamte in yer valvers.? just been on me hols to the east coast. filled up with bp ultimate. over a few days with some steady driving, higher speed mway 80-90 and some town driving, 2 people and a full boot of luggage got 385miles until the orange light...
the ones ive got look a lot different. they are about the same length but the same thickness from end to end , ie them 2 screw cut out holes at the bottom of the pad arent there. sounds like they aint gonna fit??
ok went up gsf car spares yesterday and got 2 front discs, ventilated and a set of pads for me car. not had a go at changing them yet but i took the wheel off to have a look round. the discs are brembo and look the same as whats on there near enuf. however the pads they gave me have citreon...
getting new pads as they are nearly gone for the front and discs aswell for that matter. the haynes says they are either girling or bendix?? which one will i have. the caliper housing have got turbo stamped on em if thats any help. are there different types of discs available for the valver too...
been down my local reno dealers in stourbridge asking about a set of rear discs with the bearing in for abs (as i heard there cheaper, and 1 of me bearings is kapput) they quoted me £53 each inc vat. is this about right?? for non-bearing it was £92 each!!!!!!
hey cheese. which clio have you got? my 1.8 16v is the same. gets thru coolant fairly quickly with frequent top ups. theres no obvios leaks and no water in the filler cap. its a mystery. just check in the foil filler cap and on the dipstick for white sludge which could be signs of head gasket...
i really like em. if there driven properly they go like stink. tryed keepin up with one in the valver and it pulled a decent gap in a short time. dont think any of the clios would keep up (in a straight line) if there driven hard.
yo there BRUN. i work for the AA so i can tell you what you got.
it is the basic cover which is roadside. you get 5 callouts a year from when the policy started which means they will try and fix the problem when they come out. your not covered if you break down at home or within 1/4 mile so...
i posted about having a rear wheel bearing on the way out on me 16v. someone suggested i should go for new discs for an abs car as they are not much more and have the bearing pre installed. looking thru the haynes, changing the discs looks like an easy job so im gonna have a go myself rather...
