Nice one, does sound about right that pricing if they want to compete with Sky. I rang Virgin last week again and they know nothing at all re Tivo pricing and release dates.

Just says 'The new HD/3D set top box will launch alongside Virgin Media’s new TiVo-powered next generation connected TV service scheduled for later this year'... before xmas maybe ??
50mm bb, full TV package etc. Didnt really want to wait around for months until its launched.
Is it worth the wait ? .. and anyone know a release date ?
Thanks guys, a good few options for me to look at there!
Have to say I like the look of the Google/Postini offering with full email online. The 'Google Message Security' product also has the option to retain upto 10 years worth of email (sent and received) for £22.50 a user pa.
A small sister company we own has 12 people and they use messagelabs (£500 pa).
I came across this too ... http://www.ancoris.co.uk/cloud-computing/google-postini-services/google-message-security.html .... almost seems too cheap though starting at £6 per user pa!!!
Let me know what coretemp gives you across all 4 cores. It might be worth reseating my heatsink looking at your initial temps. Do you use the 'pea sized' blob in the middle of the cpu method with your paste?
This is purely out of principal. I'd rather spend £100 on my kids than with MS for something that is inherently faulty. Maybe a letter before action might give them a nudge?
Well I tried and failed ...
Sent a formal letter of complaint to head office in Reading and reminded them of their obligations as a manufacturer under the 'Supply of Goods and Services act 1982'. Got a phone call just now and she basically said tough politely, its down to 'wear and tear' and...
I think there is obviously some incompatibility issues with the smb protocol or afs, maybe apple have made some changes, then advised MS and they have said tough sh*t we are not changin our code ... or vice versa. Who knows?
Everything was fine with 2003 R2, and apparently MS dropped services for macintosh in server 2008.
I've trawlled LOADS of posts related to the same issues we have been having with 08 and 08 R2 ... and no solutions.
Weird thing is it works, then it doesnt, then you get a -36 error, then it...
Think we have cracked it now, installed this on the server and all our problems seem to be sorted .. its pretty damn rapid aswell.

Cost is about £450 for 3 MACs.
Its $20k for 11 laptops and they dont even have the full version of MS Office which we need.
I've asked my account manager for a contact at Dell US rather than messing around with other suppliers. Dell tend to offer installation services aswell so they are near ready to go out of the box.
I think its a 3rd party company who have quoted the Dell laptops, best part of $20k for 12 machines and they are only really used for MS Office, might try Dell direct in the US from here or ask my Dell account manager.
I actually only buy HP's over here, have been very good for the last few years.
I moved from DLT's and started using the removable quantum drives with the standard Win server backup software, I also use TrueCrypt so everything is encrypted once the backups are taken offsite. Ticks all the boxes for us, works nicely and is quick to restore if needed.
... We have aquired a small company in the US and they are now looking to purchase 15 x Windows 7 laptops.
They currently only have quotes for Dell machines ... that actually look over specced and over priced!
Just wondering if any of you guys have a branch office or something and know of...
Cheers mate. Going to give DAVE v8 a try first .. http://www.thursby.com/products/dave.html
Seems lots of people have had issues with slow speeds, seems to be down to a bug or incompatibility with SMB. Who knows !?
I remember changing some GP settings or registry keys in Win 2003 similar to...
Anyone come across any issues when connecting to shares ?
Basically, they are really slow at connecting and navigating folder structures. There is obviously something not right.
Initially I thought I'd solved it because the primary suffix was pointing to our old domain (under system prefs...
Just spoke with their support, £100 to fix :( , I asked for a complaints address or email, she couldnt find one! .... mmm really ... classic!
Might give it up as a bad job and flog on fleabay as it stands, although I might take on the MS machine and see if I can win. Wouldnt mind, I've just...
Well its 0020 ..
E08: Unconfirmed: GPU Malfunction, similar to error E18
Will try my luck with MS, more than likely just laugh at me and say tough its £100 to fix it.
Cheers richy, will try that when I get home.
The 6 year option looks like its worth a punt too! - Assumming this is sales of goods act or something, be interesting to see what they say.
I did buy it when they were nearly £300 too!
Have all the original packaging and receipts in the loft.
