Im talking Claim against your insurance by you, if you are claiming against theirs then you dont have to pay.
Sometimes though it takes time working out Fault thats when you may have to fork out some excess. Especially if you need your Car fixed in a hurry :)
You have to Pay Excess on All Claims, if your not at fault, your Insurance Company will recover your excess from the Party at fault, so your not out of pocket.
Pretty much every claim you will pay Excess up front :(
I think that is how it works (can anyone confirm?)
Although £1400 is alot for Insurance and I think your Mad for Paying it, you will love the Car :) 172s 182s are amazing ;)
Hope you dont need to make a Claim :)
Moved onto an S3, and couldnt be happier, felt like a natural transition to a bigger car.
I have noticed the Turbo Lag, but you get used to it.
As for "chipping" the car, Ive considered it, but I dont think its worth the expense, I dont really need a faster car, its fast enough as it is.
I had to declare Factory fitted Sun Roof option, I would check with your Insurance company, if its not "Standard" then you should declare it to be sure.
Although I would change Companys £180 because you have a "larger" rear spoiler is sh*te, I wouldnt give those cowboys my money.
What happens when you have Low Profile tyres.
Repairing/Refurbing usually 40-60 on standard, not sure if its Anthracite it might be more, or possible etc.
Mirrror trick is useful, can save you alot of cash :)
Im with Admiral, pretty good so far.
Standard Policy (fully comp) is good - although you need to pay extra to get an "complimentary" hire car if you Prang yours.
Wind-Screen cover is unlimited which is nice as Renault windscreens are made of "Suger Glass" (went through 3 in 4 months)
I had...
If its not "Standard" its usually a Mod and should be declared, at least during the telephone conversation. All the calls are recorded anyway (they say some, but I believe they get them all).
Some insurers like Admiral go so far as making distinctions about "Optional" Extras as well, like say...
2001 51 should be Ph2 unless its been sitting around, I thought the last Ph1s were Y Reg.
Now there are differences between early Ph2 172s and later (02/03) Ph2 most notibly the addition of EPS (Traction Control) Cruise Control and I think ABS in the later models (as standard).
My 2001 51...
I always get Quoted online, if its good I phone up to finalize details.
There are some "mitigating" factors which can lower / increase your quote price, its always easier to get these discussed on the phone :)
Confused is a good place to start.

Having a Check next week on Thursday, free as well.
To get a free check you need to get at least Solution 1-4 not just Road-Side and you qualify for a free check every year :)
Does look abit Chavvy,
The Sun Visor has to go URGH :) the Vinyls look ok, as does the "Kit", Ive never been a fan of Headlight Covers but some people like em :)
Oh and if your gonna have "Stickers" all over your Clio at least have a ClioSport Sticker there as well :)
(or is that a CS...
Because of all the advances in "Car Security" the only full-proof method is to "Fish for Keys".
Im in two minds about this one, I dont them stealing my Car True, but I also dont want them "searching my house" and "interfering" with me if they want to take my car (its only a Car)
Perhaps I...
Before I got the S3 I bought a Golf Mk4 V6 4Motion (standard), I didnt like it at all, sure it had the power, comperable times to a 172 (my previous car), but it felt slow and bouncy (soft suspension).
I would avoid that Golf Ani, even "power improved" its still a Golf, to large and comfy to...
Depends on what you want.
Do you want a Larger Car? If so try the Megane, personally I would also try some "Non" Renault Cars, and see what else is out there.
I was going to get a 182, but after a few test drives I realised that I didnt want a Small Car as my "everyday" vehicle.
Ferrari would be nice, but I agree its a Money Pit, anything that goes wrong will cost a small fortune to fix.
Id go with the Clio, as nice as the Ferrari I dont think its worth it.
Whats the 0-60 times on the 348?
