£"£$"% ARGHHHH! Seatbelt holder

Some of you are perhaps aware last night I was trying to find a decent earthing point for my amp, and one of the suggested options was to use the rear middle seatbelt mount (situation in boot, behind upper left carpet).

So I undid the seatbelt mount (single torq bolt) and the mount came away, then began sanding the mount down to the bare metal, job done. Crimped my cable and manipulated a fork adapter to sit behind the bolt upon refitting.

Present day...

So job is done, just need to remount the seatbelt using the bolt. Well this is where I'm losing my patience. The seatbelt seems to have coiled up fractionally (like 1.5/2 inches) meaning there's not enough slack to remount it. I've tried pulling the rear belt (as if I were going to buckle up) but there's no give, also tried using my hands to roll some slack from the holder, but it seems fairly set on not letting me do so.

I'm probably fighting the design and the exact thing they're designed to stop, so I assume there's a more simple way of releasing the belt?

Failing that I'm going to have to remove the rear middle belt mount from the roof of the car, but that's pointless as the belt may not be usable if it's still 'locked'

Any idea PLEASE?

I assume you've tried pushing it back then pulling it forward? Like, when your belt gets stuck you kind have to push it back in before it will come out any more to unlock it sort of thing.

Sorry you're having so much trouble with this fella lol.

I know I'm beginning to feel a bit special.

Just making my way down a sugary cup of tea, then I'm going to take a pair of scissors to the fker (least that's what I feel like doing)!

Oh and the boot carpet is sharp, cutting my hands up lol.

Sorted it all a little while ago, for anyone finding themselves in a similar situation you need to undo the seatbelt retaining bolt on the roof (same size torq as the mount in the boot). Take down the seatbelt, and that well allow you to undo the 'lock' siutation you may have found yourself in.

Cheers Rob.
