Whichever has fuel
Right...
Bought a mk2 ph2 clio (54 reg facelift with the newer engine) with the cambelt supposedly snapped.
Took it apart and the belt had slipped, smashed all the valves to bits, actually made a complete mess of it. Enquired about a replacement engine but a local guy (very well known for good workmanship, everyone round here uses him) said that the head was salvagable.
He rebuilt it using genuine parts, supplied all new headbolts, gaskets etc for a very good price.
The head was fitted sunday, all went fine.
Car was running up to temp and all was hunky.
Decided to move car from workshop and as soon as there's a foot on the gas, there's blue smoke everywhere.
Decide to give it a gentle run around the block to try and clear it out but it got so bad we were causing bad traffic....
Removed the head and theres literally chunks missing everywhere.
Now, assuming the head guy will rebuild it again FOC (I fully expect him to) is it worth it? Or will there be debris floating around the engine now and if it gets a new head, the rest of the engine will chew itself to bits after the bits get pushed all round the engine.
Basically, do I repair/refit head or just bite the bullet and buy replacement engine...
