1.2 to clio 172 transplant 2001-x

hello guys,, happy new yr to u all
Help pls
i have all the gear now to do my upgrade but im looking for a few pointers
my cars a clio 1.2 8v poo grande and im upgrading to a 172, i havethe engine , wiring loom, gearbox, shafts, hubs discs, rear axle, suspension, and keys.

Right
1) will the engine loom plug into my existing interior loom, if so where?
2) do i need the keys for immobilisation or anything?
3) will the onboard computer work or do i need something extra?
4) anything else i need to know?

already looked into getting a 172, but i have spent so much on my car inc, bodywork, interior, ice, and selling the car would get me £2500-£3000 and im looking at £5k plus for a half decent for a 172, £800 all in for the kit to upgrade from 1.2 to 172 and £350 for my old engine and stuff in part exchange so £450 is very cheap for a 172 engine (32k), loom, ecu shafts, gearbox, suspension, rear axle, so why not and its not that much higher on my insurace through adrian flux.

And besides that my brother is a mechanic so labour is naff all!


Costs aside what else do i need to know?
And am i going to come across any major or minor problems!

thats what everyone does, and hence why my next engine must have a turbo, or even a supercharger lol

^ LOL, Whats not a good reason not to sell...Buy a 172, it'll be consideably less hassle in the long run and will be worthless when u come to sell.

Where did you get the engine from? I dont know the answers but 16v jon and j3ned have both done the conversion and weegad has his away for it just now

Are you using a Mk1 or Mk2 172 setup CUp or none Cup car as that makes a difference.
Are you keeping the normal PAS?
Seems a cheap price I'd drop j3ned a message though he will sell you all the bits and little pieces you need as one kit for £1.5k + VAT. All the little other things can add up.
I'd buy his Mk2 full fat 172 he has for sale though for £4.75k with Cup wheels and Cup spoiler its a crasher repair but still better value IMO.
I'll try and make a list but it depends what model 172 your using.

hi there the stuff that i have is from a 2001 -x reg clio sport, not the cup,
would it be much simpler to put the cup engine in?

bought the stuff from dealer on ebay 800 all in
ecu loom, key engine gearbox, hubs shafts rear axle discs calpiers etc, inc exhaust!

bargain, as you can see much cheaper than me buying a 172.

besides that if u look at my pics here u can see how much i have spent on the car, this is why i want to upgrade rather than swap the car.

If anyone could help as to what i need to do step by step ill pay u for the info.

think everything would be relatively simple with regards to engine, suspension, hubs shafts etc. just need a hand on wiring thats all, will the computer work? whats the score with power steering pump etc? will the engine loom plug into my existing interior loom, if so where (under nearside footwell loom)?
do i need the keys for immobilisation or anything ;i have a clifford concept 500 with intellistart?

also all i really want from my upgrade is brakes and power, not bothered with air con at all, or computer

X reg is the changover point is it a manul or electronic throtle body car?

it will have a cable throttle body edde,
you will need the uch and the internal wiring loom have you got that? have you got the decoder ring for the ignition barrel? does your 8v have abs and power steering?

have no wiring loom interior, but have decoder for the ecu and key i have
and my car does not have abs but does have power steering!
