1.8 16v tb's or 2.0 16v transplant

  Snotter's
My bro is having 2nd thoughts about selling his valver as its immaculate but he wants something faster, just seing what peoples thoughts are on either fitting cams, exhaust and throttle bodies to his current engine or two drop in a cammed 2.0 (he wouldnt be able to afford a 2.0 tb conversion). Is anybody running a 1.8 16v with bodies and what kinda of power are they getting ? thanks

agreed that is logical but he basically wants to sort brakes, suspension and engine in one go then be done.2.0 would be better day to day but the sound of bodies would be cool. All comes down to cost and performance, will try gdi again as they seem busy

pretty sure there is a guy on here running bodies on the 1.8. suppose if he goes that route he could always put a 2.0 bottom end on at a later date. The 16v head does have benefits over the williams head, so that could be the best option.

megane head is need for t/b conversion to work well so no advantage in having valver head. 2.0 cammed will be faster than 1.8 on t/b too...

best asking gdi/hillpower...might be cheaper to souce willy engine get it fittted local than take it to one of the above for cams/map.

you want to pm winston mate, £1500 2.0 conversion. by far the cheapest, throttle bodies on a 1.8 will set you back £3700 (gdi quoate)

cams will set you back a bit mate £600ish, manifold £200ish and mapping will be £300+ but you could get away with a chip.

keep checking ebay though, ive seen a set of cams go for £200 and manifolds for £100.

you will need a williams ecu to, contact j3ned as i think his place will have one

No it doesn't - the williams head is superior in every way and the megane head even better.

You'll get a 2ltr conversion well cheaper than 1500.

I had a low milage complete megane lump DELIVERED for only 300quid yesterday and i've almost aquired all the parts neccesary to run it in my 1.2 shell. By the time its over it'll be WELL under 1k.

If you're mates already got a valver and can do a bit of searching he could get a meg bottom end for 200 or so, 2ltr chip for 50 and then bang it on...max 500quid i reckon.
