since i got my 197, ultra red, xenons, climate and folding door mirrors which replaced my 182 with cup packs.

verdict so far...

love the shape, still not sure of rear diffuser but other than that prefer it over 182

build quality, does seem a lot better, no issues so far

handling, dont have any faith in it compared to the 182 which seemed to take it all

engine, preferred the 182's initial kick but loving the 197's cheeky growl, just not liking sitting at around 4,000 revs in 6th at 70mph, 197's engine seems quite lumpy a lot of time in lower gears

climate control, preferred the 182's set up, having some problems with the 197's, without fans on but with vents open drivers seat/passenger seat area is getting extremely warm so dont know if have fault with it.

i thought the 197 was more chuckable standard?!

i had a shot of the dynS (same shape as 197) at weekend and felt the handling was rubbish compared to the 172

I found the handling pretty good on the 197.

I really liked the R27 but it felt heavy, and slow compaired to my 172.

Only 70mph at 4k?! Blimey....

Its about 80 @ 4k in the 1*2. It does seem to me that patience is the best ploy with the 197.
You gotta wait a bit until they start introducing improvements . At least they've made an effort with the gearbox on the newest ones.

Engine next perhaps?

Well they have done the job at the big end of the gearbox....now just need to make the 1st and 2nd gears mega short to compensate!

suprising comments really Alymac... admittedly i have an R27 but handling inspires me full of confidence... i tend to find the traction control kicks in a little earlier i think than it would do on a 182 though.

climate issue - mine seems very powerful.... defrosts a frozen windscreen in minutes and i haven't had any hot or cold spot issues in mine

exhaust note - awesome growl as you say but still reckon a 7th gear for quiet cruising might be needed.

I thought it was pretty darn fantastic, the dampening is far superiour to a 182 imo.

Yeah mate, just hold it in for about 5-8 seconds, will reset the trip, mpg, gallons used etc.

Just my 2pence worth...Drove the 197 on track recently and the handling was far better than that of the 182/172.

On the road i also felt the car was more planted. although i never drove the R27 on the road.
