106 GTI Track Project

  Clio 182 full fat
Update:

Thankfully a rain free weekend, alot of layers and tea to keep warm.

So the progress

 • Suspension cleaned up, painted and fitted. Didnt go overly mad but we will be changing to a coilover setup at some point in the future.
 • New drop links fitted
 • Front ARB fitted with polybushes
 • Steering column re fitted
 • fuel tank re fitted and lines connected
 • hand brake cables re fitted
Sorted out all the parts that need to be sand blastered, so need to find somewhere cheap this week. Then on the powercoaters.

So here it is, been on axle stands for a good 2 months!!

The cage looks awesome. I am also thinking of putting one like that in my car. I am sure that it will provide excellent protection. The rods seem to have got good thickness. But there is going to be a huge problem. It will be extremely difficult for someone to get in or get out of this car in the case of an accident or fire.

It will probably save his life too if he was in an accident as they are made out of paperbags, would be more stupid to not have a full body cage in it if he is serious about tracking it...

Looks really good bud, keep it up, I know how annoying it can be working on these things in the crap weather :(

Tidied up inside loom and secured down with rubber lined steel P clips. Not much else achieved. Hopefully next weekend a proper update. Anyway both really pleased with the outcome of the loom!

We could not get the sikaflex sealant to bond and hold it down with the bend of frame and cant get anything round it hold the seal! Any tips? We dont want to be drilling holes... picked up some g clamps, so will give that a crack tomorrow.

Anyway fronts in and rear which were easier enough

Looking to get this finished by mid april, changed our minds on the supercharger! It's now been sold. More interested in track time, so going to leave the engine standard and start a new turbo build on another engine while we enjoy this for the moment.

Will be doing a UK trackday end of april/may and a trackday at the ring in july with DN

Top project dude and some great work going into it, i'll defo keep an eye out for more updates

:approve:

Quality project can't believe i haven't seen it before good read and i don't normally like 106s/saxos.

Thanks

Its finally getting there now, just booked DN trackday in July so only 10 weeks to really get this car setup and a trackday before norshleeef

  Clio 182 full fat
So its finally running, no video but it did fire up first time. Making a wierd noise which starts after 5 minutes we cant locate as it sounds like its coming from everywhere. Its not overheating.

Went to bleed the rear brakes, first one the bleed nipple snapped straight off. So we have drilled it out just awaiting a new bleed nipple and the otherside is just ruined so again awaiting new bleed nipple.

Quite frustrating as ideally wanted to go for a MOT this weekend so hopefully now next weekend if all goes to plan.

Also hazzard lights and indicators not working, its clicking at the relay.

Im no electrician so have no idea, all I can say is it worked when I removed it, now it does not. Everything looks earthed and everything else is working.

Had not that much time recently to update the progress.

But the car managed two full trackdays at the Nurburgring!

Couple videos

Wow, very impressive the machinery you fly past at the ring!

I was considering a 172 cup for a road / track day toy but you have me thinking of a 106 now lol!
