172 & 182 Buying Price?

  PH Quick
I'm after a 172 or 182 at the moment and am wondering what sort of price i should be looking to pay for an 03 plate 172 or an 04 plate 182 with about 60,000 on the clock and in fairly good condition?

There is a 172 on an 03 plate with 36,000 miles, 1 owner, FSH, and in immaculate condition for £5000 locally. Is this over the top or not?

Cheers All.

Wouldn't say that was over the top. It's high but you get what you pay for (in most cases). Renault Dealers down south want around 7000 for a 182 with under 40,000 miles on the clock.

I reckon just under 4500 would be a good deal.

I'm going to probably go and look at the 172, but also found a 182 with 60k, 1 owner mint condition for £5200. Only reason i have to go to a dealer is to trade in my old car. Going to use the cambelt as a bargining (sp?) tool, my mate will do the cambelt for £200 all in but should be able to get more than that off the asking price.

  Clio 172 Cup
Just got a 03 172 Cup with 41K, had the cambelt service, 4 new Toyo Proxy's, stainless system and generally in good order for £3700, private sale.

Definately a buyers market so if they don't seem to budge much walk away, plenty of others around.

Just last week i paid £5800 for an 05 plate 182 cup. With 26k on the clock. It was a private sale, found it on auto trader. Had to drive 300 miles for it though, but it was worth it.

5000 seems a bit pricey for the mileage. But it depends on the car as said , you get what you pay for. Be prepared to hear on cs . . . ''id be wanting a decent 1*2 for £2000 though tbh'':clown:;)

The prices of private sales are low at the moment. The problem i have is i've got to trade my old car in so i've got to go to a dealer unless i can find a private seller who will take a p/x.

I wouldn't pay over 4200 in this day and age for a 172 tbh. No matter miles or age.

The boss speaks sense.

i've just paid £2350 for a 2001 172 with 66,000 miles, needed a coupe of bits doing but I'm pleased with it over all.

There is a slight trend of increased values atm as new cars sales have dried up.

:) good good!

would it be best to sell with all the mods or with out?

e.g apex springs, viper induction + hillpower bend, front rear struts, sprayed engine bay, k-tec splitter, xenon bulbs, silver teck, window tints, brembo max discs and remap!

;)

Unless the one you're going to look at is absolutely mint and a one off, shop around, be prepared to travel a fair distance and you'll get a good one for a decent price.

I just got my 53 plate 172 cup, with 69k FSH and 1 owner from new for 3300. Had no tax though, but still a bargain I reckon.
