I found it was easier to remove the gromit behind the glove box (gromit is for cable release on bonnet) then use wire cutters to cut the engine side of the gromit ,just below the hard wire casing of the cable release,then push the cable thru and replace the gromit.

found these bits of coat hangers ok to remove the cd player in dash

Right then ,the GREY wire shown here next to the metal probe is the switched live on my renault standard cd player this is going to my amps remote switch line via a half amp fuse.I didnt cut this wire just used a "scotch lock" connector.

here it all is tucked in....
