Car  2005 Impreza WRX STI


can ppl post their times in 172/182 1/4 mile. im after pretty basic mods iff poss ie exhaust and filter times....or what times u would expect? Thanks

when i find a nice stretch one quiet sunday morning i plan to test my car with my dads PDA i know it does 0-60 times should do 1/4 mile times too..

When i do ill let you know give you some bench mark to go on as my car is only a basic 172 just changed the exhaust and cat thats all..
 


i cant start, i either start moving and and revs drop to 2k (nearly stalling!lol) or get too much wheelspin. whats the best launching technique?
 


i did a 15.2 i think at pod on my first time, was about -2 degrees ( so quite slippery) and they had just stripped several years of rubber off the track so it was uber slippery, coulsnt get any traction off the line, just kept wheel spinning so I reckon that with a decent surface and weather it will easily do under 15.
 


Guy, only the quicker cars off the production line dip into 14s and some get mid 14s at BEST. Paddys is the quickest std one i heard of at 14.7 iirc which is seriously fast.
 


FAO Clarkie/Colin:

Ive never actually done a 1/4 mile time so you may have to tell me if Im talking out of my arse here, but I find the best pull off for me is to hold on the bite about 3000-3500rpm, let the clutch out a bit on GO! and as the car starts moving, press the throttle right down (getting the revs fairly high) as you slowly drop the clutch.

I also find that when youre changing into second around 6750rpm, just after youve depressed the clutch and shifted into second if you slam the throttle then dump the clutch you get a good acceleration surge. You may get wheelspin though doing this if you have power mods. Make sure you only do it in a straight line as well!

so looks like im not going to beat my previous cars time at york then (14.7 seconds) in my standard 182.

unless i get a perfect run and ive got a decent engine.
 


In my old 172 Cup I got...

Standard & camping gear in boot / 1200 miles = 15.0 @ 91mph at Santa Pod

Pipercross Viper & no rear seats / 3500 miles = 14.5 @ 93mph at York
 


172 full fat wi nowt taken owt

k&n, scorpion cat back and modded inlet manifold

14.82 at santa pod
 


mk 1 172 with de-cat & system

14.8 @ santa pod

dont think my car does 0-60 that quick. im deffo goin to have to do a 1/4 mile! or let an expert off here do one in it ;)
 


Timo managed a 13.9 at 99mph with usual mods and no interior, Ive had a 14.1 at 97.5mph with exhaust/decat, rsport and filter, back seats out but nowt else.. both in Cups

think its about 18-20 seconds

it was red mate, say no more. lol

there was deffo more there too. Rhys mk1 172 ran 14.6 fully loaded i think, that was standard too if i remember right.

Can you tell me how much you spend doing up your car ?( performance wise) is that all the mods you got?, seems to be a big performance increase for a filter, chip and a exhaust!

theres a 172CUP on here that has an r-sport ECU only.....and has managed a 13.9 !!!!! - now that is quick
