172 big brake discs

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
hiya guys just another question, i took the 172 to get the front tyres changed and asked the mechanic what sort of life the brakes have left im them, he told me but also pointed out that the discs are bigger than standard they seem to be 300mm and they have the original calipers still on, is this the standard size disc that comes with the clios?

if not where can i get hold of another set of these discs?the previous owner never changed the discs as this conversion was carried out by the owner before him so i have no idea:dapprove:

Like mr bognor says . 280mm standard discs , unless the calipers have been modified in some way i'm pretty sure you won't get 300mm discs on as they will catch the caliper .

280mm stock.
You could make bigger bareks fit with stock calipers but err there no kits out there plus you'd need some realy wierd adapter brackets you'd be better of moving the caliper arounf a bit to make it work.

^^^^ Like the man says , better off just measuring them yourself . Sounds a bit strange to me .

yeh thanks guys i havent measured them yet its just i had 300mm discs on my mondeo and they looked about the same but without measuring i cant tell, but most probably u guys are right they must be 280mm(still pretty big!)

wouuld the calipers be the standard ones then mate?or will i need to get the brake pads off them aswel?

calipers are stock, if you look behind the disc/caliper you'll see an after market braket that brings the caliper out further

i'd go back to standard size discs, but thats just me

they still list the discs on the prima racing site. the braking is pretty good imo and they look wicked, if i cant get hold of the discs then il be going back to standard

We had a 172 with these in the garage last week, the disks were cracking but we couldnt change them as the carriers are different. got carriers from a laguna in the scrapyard and fitted brembo high carbons the kit still uses the standard shape pads
