Cars started making a whining noise, from the general belts area. Had a look at the aux belt idler pulley, seems fine, no play in it. Was going to have a look at the cambelt, to see if I can spot a visible problem. Am I right that to get access it's
1 Jack drivers side up
2 Remove wheel
3 Remove arch liner
?

I think the bumper off makes it easier to change, but I just want to have a look really.

I think the best way to check the cam belt is to remove the top engine mounting. You need to support the engine from underneath to do this. Then you can turn the belt round for inspection using a socket on the crank pulley. So wheel off and liners out of the way as well.

Ok, so car on axle stands and then use jack to support engine?
