LOL no!

its about as far from plug and play as physically possible,

ideally you want engine looms etc from a mk2 ph2 172,,, if its a basic car you want the stuff from a cup, if its a dynamique with all the goodies you want it from a ff 172

as above you really want everything from the steering wheel backwards to make it hassle free. Not worth doing, if your going to do it sell yours and get an earlier one, seems a shame to do it to a car worth a fair bit.

inc door + rear looms too, alot of the cars converted on here have been older ones, and the advice given is that rear +door looms just plug in. mine is an 04 and neither of the plugs were the same

which meant ALOT of cutting/soldering/headscratching as wire colours are all different

Nope best way for you is to swop all the wires etc. most of the parts have hole in them though for your car.

Its not that far away its quite good realy vs say a 225 transplant etc

no difference realy using a phase 1 or 2 realy if he's swoping it all

plus if a full fats all you can get and you don't want it all just bin the unwanted bits.

Theres not that many wires to do though

isnt there? theres enough,,,, 50 a side easy on the doors and same again on the rear loom?

things like windows make it akward too when you dont have wiring diagrams and have to figure out how they work with a power probe

Just swop the rear loom from just after the step in the floor and you only have then to do the rear lights etc and there only then 2 wires you need to work out

im not worried about wiring things like rear lights, its the stuff like aircon, powersteering, stereo, abs that im worried about. tbh i dont even care if the air con wont work.

Im thinking if i strip out my whole loom will the wires off of the 172 loom plug in to the dash etc or have i got to change that or start stripping wires ect.

Because my dash is the electrical fuel display ect and im guessing the phase 1 172 is dials, will this make it a b**ch?

IMO I'd keep the abs you have and the pas you have which is electric and use that IMO its easier.

Aircon is simple enough just use the right looms from the doner car etc

Stereo is dead easy

As for the looms pull the looms and dash from your car and put the whole engine and interier looms form the doner in is easier ou could rewire the dash to work but for simplicity the dash swop is easier and a almost straight in bolt.

I'm busy doing one myself, but I bought a written off 172, got to say if your technically minded and know electrics it really isn't as hard as people are making it out to be. I had no prior mechanical knowledge only a very extensive background in Electronics, It's just time consuming but I have found it to be lots of fun, it's really fun to go home after a days graft and rip your car to bits :)

mind you I've done it for the experience, the fun and cause my cars had a lot of exterior modifications to it, if it hadn't then there really is no point. I only done mine because I've had bumping strips and side skirts molded into my car and bodged/flushed and a full respray.

But good luck if you decide to do it.

if you have all the parts infront of you as you do with a donor car, its a peice of piss

difficulties come as i said when you end up with bits for 6 or 7 different cars, looms dont match up wiring different etc etc

^^ that is the truth!! Get the donor car if you are dead set on doing it. or get a damaged 172 on the cheap and fix that back up!
