172 cup for 182 again

  black golf v6 4 motion

wot bout this deal.

£9500 part -ex, £15147 inc Comp Stripes, Cup spoiler pack and cup susp pack in racing blue bal £5647 no dep to pay, once i test drove it for second time i had to have one, also part of the deal a clio v6 test drive at later date?

£15147 seems alot to me,people are talking about £13.500 with everyting added, good price on the cup, but they seem to have added it onto the 182, ring round some dealers i would be very suprised if you didnt knock at least a grand off

I agree with nut, people have been paying a lot less than that for a 182. A bit more haggling is needed me thinks.

true but the p/x is very generous - the dealer will struggle to get more than that for it on the forecourt.

^^^ agree with mike, the p/x figure makes up for the near list price of the car.

To some extent I try and ignore what Im paying for a car, or what Im getting in part exchange allowance. The thing I always focus on is the "cost to change" i.e. the difference.

Whenever Ive bought a car Ive;

1. Checked what the absolute maximum is I could get for my car if I sold it privately.
2. Searched for the best price for the new car, regardless of where it might come from.
3. 2-1= your target "cost to change".

Ive walked out of dealers before, many times, when they refuse to budge.

Plus, always make them feel that youve got another option lined up elsewhere..."if you dont do this deal, youll make no profit at all as Ill go buy the car from (insert other dealers name). So I can do that, or you can sell me a car, make a bit less profit on the sale, and then lots more when I bring it back for servicing...?"

Its worked very well for me so far...

Absolutely right. Its no problem paying £25,000 for a new 182 if you get £20,000 for your Cup in p/x. One things for sure, you cant get the best of both worlds.

You are mad geordiclio, you could still save over 2k by going private.Sell private and buy an import.

People go on about petrol going up 2p a litre and heres someone willing to give away thousands.

Totally insane, but its up to you at the end of the day.

P.S give your car to me and ill sell it privately, ill take the cash to motorpoint and get you a car with all the extras and my fee is,£2000.

would you honestly pay me.No,so why give it to some dealer whosgoing to treat you like a muppet when you walk in with your u.k car for warranty work.

You really should think it over.

Cars are one of the areas in life where you can save the greatest amounts of money for only moderate effort. £5k may seem like a decent price to change, but is the 182 genuinely £5k better?

Perhaps you think its £3k better, which might be the price to change if you can get £9.5k privately and then haggle for a £13.5k deal. You may have to wait a little longer for the deal to happen and possibly do without a car for a few weeks, but itll also allow you to reflect on the value of the money youre about to spend!

Personally, even £3k as a price to change seems massive to me! Im probably just being a stingy accountant, but £3k does mean a lot someone like me who paid under £5k for my car and expects about 0% depreciation when I come to sell. Buy wisely and then sell wisely! :D

You could try Rikki at Benfield renault on scotswood rd . I think hes still there as his v6 was there the other day. Hes sold me my mk1 172 and the missus her 1.2 in the last year and seems a genuine guy.

Though i wouldn;t take your car back there for servicing, the benfield rd one is more better. You probably know this already owning a cup. Sorry if im preaching to the converted.

Good to see another geordie on here

renault aberdeen offered me£10,750 as a p/x on my 03 cup, 6100 miles, i was shocked as i only paid £10990 from newcardiscount, they wanted 4800 to change to a 182 with cup spoilers and suspension, however i got them down to £4k to change but had to pull out of the deal unfortuneately. They were also offering 0% finance at the moment as its a renault offer to shift 182s.

Better deals are out there than what they are offering you. I was about to sign but also did think about selling private and buying another 182 from an online place again but the cups aint going for too much money at the moment and that p/x offer was amazing in my opinion.

Good Luck

I got £9250 for my 52 plate Cup against a new Cup at £10999. My 1st Cup had 18000 miles on it when I traded it in.

Try Reg Vardy on the Felling Bypass...they gave me a crap p/x on my Megane Coupe, but more than made up for it with a nice discount on my loverrly 182....
